The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

I think theres a balance between a cheaper decent bag and a rubbish china import ebay bag, lowepro are a perfect example of good quality at a reasonable price.

I had a look for one but I don't think the normal 3" one will fit. It only just covered my X100s screen, which was 2.8".
If its any help, I used an Expert Shield protector ( Amazon) . It fits perfectly, goes on easily ( if you're careful) and looks good. Its perfectly clear, not the matt finish and comes with a lifetime guarantee.

I bought one for my X-Pro 1 too.

Thanks, have now read some where that the Canon 5D mk 3 has the same screen size as XT-1, will let you know if I have wasted a tenner later today.

No, import and vat would need to be paid. I'm going to try out some other options whilst I'm waiting, but I do like it so may treat myself :)

Looks a great bag and I'm all for treating myself too. Go for it...

Well not very good fit, screen covers the viewable area of screen ok but is about 3 mm short in height and 5 mm short in length to cover the outside "frame" of screen. Will send for the expert shield. Cheers

Look whats available for the XT1...

The above brackets are available on ebay if anyones interested, along with a Sunway one. You can tell what I have been watching;)

Twist, have you any experience of the above mentioned brackets when used on your XP1 ?? I think I prefer the look of the i-shoot one, any thoughts before I pull the trigger. I had the official grip on the Xp1 so havent tried any of these aftermarket grips before. I think the current large Fuji grip is a little juicy @ £120.00

Also, first impressions of camera??

I never used a grip/bracket on my XP1, Ive only used the original Fuji grip on my XE1 which made it much nicer to use.

TBH I havent fired off more than around 20-30 quick frames, overall its a definite improvement over the other Fujis Ive used BUT the AF is still not near the D700 and if anyone says it is then they have only used the XT1 in perfect conditions, imho the D700 still outperforms it by quite a margin BUT its good to see Fuji are making improvements and I think I could cope with the XT1 AF, where I couldnt with their previous cameras. Bearing in mind I am using 2 of Fujis slowest AF lenses, the 35 and 56.

Image quality is as I remembered and Fuji colours are stunning as usual, forgot how little tweaking the files require and how accurate skintones are. Again, this is based on very little time with the camera so it may still go either way and AF will hopefully improve as I get used to its quirks again.

Anyone got any concrete news on the 18-135? Not been into the shop for a while and haven't seen my normal contact for even longer. Probably pop in later to see if there's any news.

Is the 56 one of Fuji's slower focusing lenses? Its not blisteringly quick on mine, and doesn't compare to the D800, but having said that its always very accurate, even wide open

Yes, which is understandable I suppose, lots of glass to move and a wide aperture. Accuracy doesnt have much to do with speed though does it. Its also very accurate and sharp wide open on my XT1, very nice lens.

certainly is. I'm just wondering cause I've missed a couple of things with it. But I suspect thats down to me not being very used to the camera yet

The Fujis do take a bit of getting used to, Ive used a few and tbh the XT1 is the best to own/start with, the other CSCs were very annoying ime, X100s was decent though. Is it missing after you get a lock? Static or moving subjects?

Moving, the major problem I have is sticking my thumb I my eye when I try to BBf. I'll get there though. It is a great combo

AFAIK don't use BBF, its quite a bit slower than shutter AF on the XT1. Coming from BBF on my Nikon I was surprised by this.

Have you:
Power management - Turn on high performance
Set to CH or CL - Top dial
Set front dial to C from S
Make sure AF is on focus NOT release in settings

Try that and see how you get on.

Noticed the focus area is quite big - with no option to reduce size??- when using BBF

Popped in to see when the lenses are expected and the chap suggested that they'll probably arrive a day or 2 before the letter saying they're on the way!

According to the email I got from fuji, the £250 voucher is only valid till the end of August. This means that we should have the lens soon a let's hope in July. I would like to try it first before I commit myself to buying it

Joined the club, very pleased with the X-E1 and an opportunity arose to swap my 5D MKII for a X-T1 (still kept a 5D MKI for landscapes mainly)

First impressions are very good, must have a read of the manual now to see what's new or changed from my other Fuji

Cheers
Rich

Can you point me to detail for this? Is this offer available at the moment?

Hopefully! I've had the "Thank you for registering your XT1" mail but still waiting for the voucher. Not too worried - I didn't know about the offer until I was about to put the box up in the loft!

@architectfadi , I know what you mean but I've been so impressed with all the Fuji lenses so far that I can't really see them offering us a lemon. The 18-135 range will cover almost every need I have (and most of the wants!) other than the super wide angles and the WR will make it the perfect partner to the XT. Looking forward to it arriving.

@Swanseajack
I have just bought one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Quick-Relea...od-/171376883513?ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160

Got a similar item from this seller for my X-E1 and was very impressed with the quality, service was excellent, kept me informed and arrived in about 2-3 weeks.
No problems with fit on a Markins Arca Swiss Ballhead, same applies to my smaller Photoclam head
Posted a couple of pictures here http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/fuji-x-e1-x-e2.433415/page-27#post-6293420 of the one I bought previously

Cheers

Thanks for the link and advice. I am going to get a grip rather than a bracket, do they make the grip like you had with your XE-1? I can't seem to see any on their ebay listings.

I note the L plate has a grip on it as well - does anybody know if one is made for the XT1 and where can you get it from?
Cheers

So, my first Fuji wedding on Saturday. Was nervous as hell having only EVER shot Nikon. One D3s and 35mm in the bag just in case but I didn't touch it all day. Took me a while to settle down and get into it, no bridal preps which was a huge pain as I could really have done with those to ease me in. My main concern was the AF system and the processional so I bottled it a bit but rather than take out the trusty Nikon I stuck the 18-55 on. Got the shots but due to the smaller aperture they looked a bit flat, was the only part of the day I wasn't happy with.

Got more confident as the day went on though and was VERY impressed at the focusing when it came to the first dance. The 56 is IMMENSE. I worried when I sold my 85 1.4 but this is just a ridiculously good lens. Even the X100s did me proud when I pulled it out all throughout the day, a lot of the ceremony was shot on that due to the totally silent shutter. Two weddings this weekend, if all goes well then and the following weekend I'll sell the remainder of my Nikon gear.

Processed the wedding a lot quicker too, less work needed on the Fuji files for this one and overall I'm very happy with the results and can't see any real noticeable difference from what I'd provide from shooting Nikon other than that processional. I actually prefer the B&W from the Fuji, so it's all happy days so far. Just hope it stays that way.

So am i, have been told August now :)
