The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Good info, thanks. Out of interest did you manage to use them with your finger? Or from an accuracy perspective do you need an Apple pencil?
I have an Apple pencil so didn't try if I'm honest, I've just had another look and Capture One has a mobile only sub which is £7pm if you pay annually; £8.50 if you pay monthly. I think £5pm would be stomachable...

Initially I was dead set on Silver and my first two were silver - and then someone pointed out that they’re pretty conspicuous (nothing shouts ‘I’m taking pictures’ louder than a silver vintage style body!) and since then I’ve really preferred black
I'm 6'4" and built like a rugby player, I'm never going to be inconspicuous :ROFLMAO:

The silver one do look nicer though, they are better as an object.*

* side note, I would save myself so much time and may be even money if I were colour blind, besides the problem that comes with being colour blind, if I can't tell the difference between all the colours or even shades. If I just go by feel and quality. This apply to everything from clothes to bags or the colour of my HiFi. So on some things I just get a blanket black to save myself the headache of the option of merely having the option. Like I just bought a keyboard, the choice was silver or space grey....I chose space grey but since then I thought to myself the silver one might be nicer.... which is weird because the reason i went with space grey is because i already have another keyboard in silver and I wanted something different. It's a good thing sometimes when i didn't get a choice, like when I bought my car, I just wanted the engine and it was the only one on my market at the time with the right mileage. Made the decision for me.

Also, it's the reason I wear a lot of black, i just don't need to waste time and energy to decide on the colour of my clothes. I have like 15 black Primark T-shirts as a result.

pps I spent 30mins a couple months ago standing in a store deciding on the colour of a water bottle!

Sorry for the detour! lol

Times were simpler when we didn't have so much choice, and access to information. I remember the good old days of wanting a telly, you'd go to comet see one in the size you wanted and take it home.

Now it's research until the cows come home whether you want OLED, QLED, 4k, 8k, how bright you want it, which have the best motion handling (I still prefer CRT and Plasma for this), whether it's a smart tv or not, how many HDMI ports is has, what the refresh rates are etc etc. You then go to store to check it out, go back and do some more research on what you discovered in store. Then search online to find where's cheapest, ask your local store if they'll price match, buy the thing and then research again to make sure you've made the right purchase. Be happy with it for two weeks and then find out they're bringing a new model out :headbang: :ROFLMAO:

Still got my 2019 OLED and it’s great. A lot of tech is so good nowadays you don’t need to upgrade for years. Fujis are a good example!

I’ve got a CRT for games and old 4:3 content too; and in a dark room it’s probably the best looking set I have!

It's arrived, I'm pleased to say it's new, in pristine condition and a 0 shutter count. I had a quick play before the battery ran out, I'm very surprised that the AF manages to find Betty's eyes (my dog), those that have been on the Sony thread know that most cameras, including my A1, struggle as she has dark eyes on a black face, and she has sitcky up ears that cameras think are her eyes

I've set a few things up, but there's a lot of menu items I don't know what they are, is there a way to bring up info in the menus to tell you what the functions do?

Has anyone used the K&F batteries and can comment if they've been OK, they seem to get good reviews on amazon?

Never had a problem with my Hahnel batteries. Only the usual problem of them not lasting as long as I might like. Battery life has got to be a major consideration in this day and age.

Nothing is as bad as the RX1R II, batteries don't last 2 minutes  :$

Toby, I have two OEM batteries bought last year and used a handful of times that I could let go ( I have 7 batteries total for my gripped X-T3, but since that’s been assigned to backup duties as I’ve acquired an X-H2S, I don’t need such an arsenal of batteries for motorsport duties!!)

If you are interested reply in this thread and I’ll sort them out and post in the classifieds

Thanks David much appreciated, however I'll let you know as I I'm wanting a charger as well. The charger is £16.99, but you can get a charger and 2 batteries for £28.

Also, I don't know if the camera has a fault and has to go back, see below.

Has my new X100VI got a fault? When I try to choose focus area using the OVF initially it allows me to scroll through all the different options I have (2 x single point, 2 x zone and wide/tracking) but then single point disappears from the options if I continue scrolling. Also, if I try to choose single point using the OVF it doesn't select it and choose zone or tracking instead. If I switch to the EVF or LCD screen I can then choose single point after which the OVF is still in single point, with one caveat in that the single point size doesn't change and is larger than it appears on the LCD and EVF.

I've checked the firmware and it's on 1.32 which doesn't even appear to have been released yet

OK thanks, any idea why single point keeps disappearing from the options?
Factory reset has sorted it, I'm changing settings one by one and then see if it causes the issue again.

If Toby doesn’t take these I would take one. Happy to charge in the camera!

I’m happy to have one each if @Mr Perceptive is happy with that?

Gentlemen, this issue here is shipping them, Royal Mail does not allow LithiumIon batteries (used) to be sent as spares without being with original equipment and courrier options (that do allow) are £8 each. This will make them expensive if purchased seperately.

@colourofsound is local to me so we coudl come to a physical handover arrangement, but @snerkler is the wrong side of the Peak District unless he is visitiong teh Superbikes at Oulton this weekend (I am only 10 mins from Oulton Park)

Thanks David, if @colourofsound is happy to collect that's fine with me, I'm happy to take a punt on the K&F (y)

Work and home renovations mean that I've not been out with the camera anywhere as much as I would like. I've barely even been able to come on here.

I did manage to take a few photos at some local cycle speedway events that my lads were competing in:

Those are wierd looking bycicles Lewis, presumably sport specific?

Testing out the X100VI yesterday in my local town, not the best place for photography in all honesty. Still working on a processing style I like, well I've been doing that for the last 15 years

Has anyone used the Viltrox wide converter for the X100 and can comment on whether it’s up to par please?

I've been looking into Fuji's X Raw Studio and am compiling a load of sims that I'll have a play about with at times but it got me thinking about the DR setting and whether converting the raw after the event would be exactly the same as doing it in camera at the time. What I mean is that changing the DR setting changes the exposure by bumping up the ISO and then doing some voodoo magic to give the final picture and so if this was not applied to the raw file at the time of shooting how can it be applied retrospectively? For example, I used a recipe yesterday with DR400, it was shot at ISO 500. Without DR (or should I say DR100) the shot would have been at ISO 125, converting this retrospectively in X Raw Studio wouldn't give the same result would it?

Am I missing something obvious

can anyone recommend (link?) for the Fuji 18/2.0 square hood?

I just got one today to cover the 24mm before I get something faster down the line.

I can only find these 2, are there no sub £20 options?

Just buy a used WCL-X100. Same optical as the MK2. Just add your own magnet to get the camera to recognise it. Or use the menu to tell the camera it’s fitted.
YouTube is your friend.

EBay listing. 157828560241

Although all the WCL options are good, IMHO the WCL unbalances the camera (the TCL even more so)

I have owned WCLs but now I would just use an X100 series as is.
It would just be for occasional use, and I have the Small Rig grip for it (y)
