The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Go on then Toby, what does it mean? o_O
Photography by walking around, hopefully it’s not going to be the new ‘POV’ catchphrase  :$

Had a bit of a strange encounter today. Whilst walking around Sheringham Park I saw a nice flint stone cottage so I decided to take a photo, as I was taking the photo an old bloke came out the door and said:-

Bloke: "What are you doing?"
Me: "Taking a photo of this nice house"
Bloke: "Why are you doing that?"
Me: "Because it's pretty and will make a nice photo"
Bloke: "You're not supposed to do that."
Me: "Oh, why's that"
Bloke: "It's illegal"
Me: "It's actually not but I can delete the photo if you like?"
Bloke: "We don't like being interferred with clear off"
Me: "No worries, I'll delete the photo"

and I walked off.

Anyone else had anything similar?

Absolutely, usually I'm polite and offer to delete the photo, sometimes I let them know that its not a crime taking a picture whilst my feet are planted in a public place, but most of teh time I can't be bothered......

Yes, a scientist who became well known during the Covid-19 epidemic lived in a flat in a part of the city that I regularly frequent.
The flats are highly coloured and make a good photo so I stopped to compose a shot of the rank.
He came storming out of his door yelling and shouting at me wanting to know why I was photographing his house.
It was at the time when people were just getting out and about but still keeping clear of others and he started walking straight toward me as he was shouting - I pointed at him and loudly warned him not to come any closer, and it seemed to bring him to his senses.
I then explained I was pursuing my hobby, whilst observing restrictions and I had no interest in his flat.
I think about it every time I see him being interviewed on TV.

Selective publicity? ;)

Big isn’t it, but I guess the 72mm filter hinted at that.

The good thing is that it still fits in my little carry case

I was thinking about that lens as a small alternative to my Sony gear but as you say it's a pretty big lens, so if I do decide to buy a Fuji ILC I think I'll go with the Sigma 10-18mm instead.

Love the seaside stuff @snerkler :)
Thanks Lee :)

I've seen some really cool editing on fairground stuff on the X100VI FB page but it just didn't seem to work on mine for some reason, I think the sun was probably too harsh.

I’m just trying this out at this point to see if I “need” something like this. Getting rid of the 2 lenses I wasn’t using made the 10-24 free ( actually I’m up… sort of )

The Sigma is much smaller, quicker and 2/3rds of the weight so perhaps those win over the extra ££ to buy ?

I’m still on the fence, I’m loving shooting with the X100 and don’t know if I want to go back to zooms, but I was thinking something like the X-T5 with 16-50mm f2.8-4.8 and the 10-18mm would be great for travel, would give me more scope than my A1 with 20-70mm, and would still be lighter.

The Sigma zooms look nice and compact, but I couldn't get past the lack of aperture ring, and the zoom being the opposite way around to Fuji lenses.

The 16-50 looks like a good little lens, and will likely be my next purchase, as my son keeps borrowing my 18-55. I guess if you were pairing the 18-50 with the 10-18 the similar handling wouldn't be an issue.
