The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

@bloater

Personally (unless you are desperate), I’d wait until the X-T6 is released. Traditionally the out going model takes an initial hit (due to oversupply in the pre-loved market) and then prices start to firm up again.

Also if the X-T6 is released at a price say £200 more than the current X-T5 RRP then instantly all pre-loved X-T5s will get a corresponding price increase. Conversely there is a risk that the new camera has a lower RRP but in the current climate where chips (esp. memory) are rapidly increasing in cost this is extremely unlikely.

IMO you have nothing to lose while waiting other than having a ‘fat’ camera (one could say that it’s bloated!!!)

I think the X-T6 is nailed on. There's a lot of discussion about the rear screen, and if they go back to the X-T4 screen that would be a deal breaker for me. Also, for what I want an X-Tx for I don't know what the X-T6 could have to tempt me spending a lot more money over the X-T5.
Not for me, I love the fold away and forget it nature of the X-T4 screen, there is no way the touch screen can be accidentally activated which was what drove me up the wall with my EOS M6 mk2.

One of the first things I do with any camera is turn the touch screen off ;) I hate screens that you have to flip out to tilt.

No worries - am now looking at the raft of 23mm lenses to fit my bloated XT-5  :ROFLMAO:
If you're not bothered about weather sealing I'd be going for the 23mm f1.4 R.

For stills shooters, I suspect it’s all going to be about auto focus. Or at least I hope so.

I’m used to the 50mm f1.2 GM so it’s quite tiny for me ;)
Damn that must be a big b****r ;) Although I'm used to the size of the 16-55 and viltrox 27 F1.2.

Yeah I've heard the X-T5 isn't great for action etc, but for my uses I'm sure it's fine, the X100VI is perfectly adequate and I assume the X-T5 has similar AF?

If it's the original 16-55 then the size is similar, but the 50mm f1.2 is over 100g heavier, but it's noticeably bigger and heavier than the 16-55mm II. I don't know about the size of the vitrox but it's over 200g ligher than the 50mm GM  :$

On paper they are the same, but the focus motors are slower in the X100VI pancake lens, than the later/better XF interchangeable lenses, In the real world probably not a lot of difference

The X-H2S should be faster on moving subjects though

Cool, that means it would fit my purpose then. I've obviosuly got the A1 for when I want serious performance (y)

Bloody hell, that's a beast
:ROFLMAO:

You should see the Nikon z 50mm f1.2.
Yeah, that's crazy. Sony's is the smallest and lightest out of the three 'big boys' but it's still a heft. I do sometimes think about swapping it for the f1.4 but the f1.2 has something special about it, and it's not as though I carry it around all the time.

OK, so I just can’t take the hit on the XT5 > X100VI

Have decided to sell the 16-50 and Viltrox 27 to (mostly depending on which one) fund a 23 (y)
Well as nice as the 27 f1.2 is. I think you'll have a bit more versatility keeping the 16-50.

The original 23mm F.4 lens is not on the recommended Fuji 40MP lens list - that said IMO (having owned both) its way sharper than the 23mm F2 at wide open apertures (I've nveer had a 40Mp sensor so that comparison is on older 24/26MP sensors)

Another one from the helicopter (sorry ;)) ...

T5 16-55

After the cock up with the last loan Fuji are allowing me to loan the X-T5 again, this time I'm going to try it with the 16-55mm Mark II. Getting it in a couple of weeks time, it'll be interesting to see how the 16-55mm compares with the 16-50mm.

On the X-H2 when hand holding I find I mainly use the screen inverted to face the camera - and use the EVF for just about everything. I don't like an active touch screen when using the EVF. It's convenient when switching to tripod that I can just flip round the screen and the touch screen is active. have a had a couple of occasions where the flip screen has allowed me to position the camera and use it where I don't have access to the rear. (the only practical alternative would have been tethering).

Neither is a dealbreaker for me - but if I was given a choice between the two with no other changes to the camera - then I'd take whichever allows me to invert the screen.

(The ideal perhaps is a tilt screen that can be inverted)

Being tall I use the tilt screen a lot to allow me to shoot lower without breaking my back ;) I always put a screen protector on whatever camera I buy and (touch wood) I've not damaged one to date.

I almost always keep the screen on my X-T4 facing inwards, but there are occasions when I wish I could flip it up without having to have it out to the side - mainly for the exact reason Toby has mentioned. At some point I want to get an X-T5 though, and as Andrew has said it's not a dealbreaker.

Basically: I agree with both of you guys! :)
