Prices for X100vi on ebay are going silly.
Yesterday an X100vi with some extras (but all in all worth no more than £200) went for £1600+ which is close to the cost of a brand new camera.
I guess we have the same shortages as the V and T ranges not to mention influencer pressure.

Fuji are taking the p*ss with the recent price bump on this camera imo. Just bumps up the already silly prices on used units. Good for those wanting to sell theirs though.

They're was a nice sounding one on here last week with extras for £1300 I think it was.

I thought that was a pretty reasonable price tbh

I reckon £1300 is a reasonable price.
The one I saw at the weekend was probably worth £1500 but not a lot more. Unfortunately people frequently lose rational thought when bidding on ebay!
Patience is a virtue!
 
Sadly, I may have to replace my X series 18-55mm soon which I’ve had for years. I think I bought it for my XT-1..
I’m a bit confused by what’s on the market now.
Do you have any recommendations I can look for whilst I ask the credit department for authorisation?
Any help appreciated - thank you :)

You could always replace with the same... The direct replacement would be the 16-50, which is wider, but slower. The 16-80 has more range, but is bigger and f4. The 16-55 f2.8 is nicer, but more expensive and bigger.
 
I’ve been debating an x100vi for a while, but the price bump got me doubting myself.., I just don’t think it’s worth best part of £1900, especially when you can get a canon r5 for the same, I know it’s not like for like, but one is an absolute beast and the other is a compromise.

Out of interest, anybody got the wide angle conversion lens? Is it any good? 35mm eqv is good, but I do prefer a bit wider, interesting to know how it performs.

With those values, and wider than 35mm I'm sure someone like @Mr Perceptive will be along soon to nudge you into a Q2 or something....

What’s the reason for replacing it? 16-50 2.8-4.8 is the obvious replacement. Maybe the sigma 18-50 2.8 is worth a look too. But if your 18-55 is broken, maybe it’s worth repairing or picking up another?

I've had the WCL on the pre-40MP sensors, its a conversion lens so is just glass, its officially recommended by Fujifilm for the X100VI so I would expect little loss in in IQ, you might though get a little distortion to the edges of the frame, but it is software corrected in camera. Its light and compact (a little bit of a faff to put on if you already have the 49mm female thread adpter on the camera for the WR filter or lens hood, as you have to remove this before putting on the WCL, and the also seperatelymove the hood and filters over.

Despite its small size it does make the camera significantly larger, and less pocketable (large jacket or small bag).

You are right in that you can't really compare the X100VI to the R5, both have compromises, the R5 isn't exactly pocketable and certianly is less discrete, and an R5 with a decent lens on it is physically much bigger.

All premium compacts attract a premium price, that just goes with the territory, none of the Ricoh GR family, Fuji X100VI, Sony RX1 family or Leica Q families are desperately cheap, and could also been seen to lack flexibility, but having extensively used both X100 series cameras and the Leica Q series I'd say that both are greater than their specifications might first seem. The X100 series in particular is fun to use, it's got huge kerbside appeal, and you can feel very engaged with image making while using it. If I couldn't afford to keep my Q3, I'd be back with an X100VI in an instant. I'd also be quite happy with one as my only camera (but then I do like working with fixed focal length cameras)

Yes the price bump is annoying (and many have seen it as Fuji taking the p*ss), but Leica put their prices up regularly and its just accepted. At £1,750 the X100VI is still IMO good value for money (as a new purchase) when comparing it against the Sony RX1Riii and Leica Q3. I'm not going to compare against the Ricoh GR, as anything without a viewfinder IMO is not a camera, its a phone without the calling functionality.

I’m understanding a little better now.
I’m told it may have motor issues which is the reason why I’m looking to see cost of repair v replacement. I can buy the same again for £275 on MPB but I must admit that I like the reviews of the 16-55mm ii although it’s expensive. I have a 56mm which I hardly use so I may sell that to fund it if I can find one used.

16-55mm f2.8 mkii is every bit as good as the mki version as far as I can see. The mkii is much lighter and takes a 72mm filter.

Snagged one today.
X100vi comes with a nice WCL100 all in gorgeous black and some additional accessories.
Just in time for my trip to Scotland to do the NC500.
 
Well, I’m back in Fujiland. Having sold my Fuji stuff last winter to give the Z-system a try, (and regretting it almost immediately), the recent price dip on the Xt5 kits made me think ‘what the hell’ and so I’m an Xt5 owner again.
A walk up the local hills to try the ‘new’ toy out just proved to me that I shouldn’t have got rid of it in the first place. :headbang:

What didn't you like about the Z system ?

Nice photo so I presume you find the Fuji 'easier' to use but can you say what you find difficult in using the Nikon system. I find the Nikons work better for me but I do love many features in the Fuji ecosystem. Since I run my Nikons and Fujis in parallel but never or very seldom mixed.

Nothing it all. I just prefer the user experience of the Fuji system, as simple as that.

Interesting. Makes it difficult to assess why, but that is not your problem.
Easier for me who who is heavily invested in Nikon to say....
Nikon AF is better, faster, more sure.
Fuji produces images that may be less sharp on occasions but in general the camera works better. Even that is a fuzzy statement!

If I compare my Nikon Zf or Z8 with Fuji XT5........
Z8/Zf are streets better for AF surety and speed than XT5.
XT5 images are more detailed (expected cf 45MP v 26MP.) than Zf.
Nikon colour Zf or Z8 is less vibrant than XT5.
Whilst the cameras seem equivalent the Z8 is heavy compared to Zf or XT5 but the Zf seems less 'functional' than the XT5.

Defining what that functional difference is between XT5 and Zf is difficult so I do understand your reticence to describe as I find it difficult also.

I would move go Canon but I wont as I dont like the twirly back dial and the strange front command wheel which looks like a deformed wheel!
People's preferences are very personal.

I have a selection of digital full frame, apsc, medium format and 35mm film.

The preference order changes massively depending on what criteria you are coming from ;)

Auto focus then the A7Riii wins.
Slow enjoyment then the Yashica Mat 124g wins.
General enjoyment, snapshots and indoor shooting then the X100f wins....
 
Question time, have any of you used the XC 15-45 and what are your thoughts on it?

I've not been enjoying zooms recently and have slowly been transitioning to prime lenses, all I have left is my XF 18-55 f2.8-4 which I usually use when we're going away on holiday just for convenience, but the smaller size and weight of the 15-45 is quite tempting so I'm pondering weather to do a trade...

I know it's a power zoom and they can be a bit marmite, but that isn't something that bothers me.

I've tried them twice, and never got on with them. Must be a "me" problem.

I've just parted with my X100F, I had it for almost 2 years and as much as I wanted to love it, and at times really did enjoy using it, I just couldn't gel with it, AF was a bit too slow at times and I found the dials a bit too fiddly...

I did like the 23mm focal length though, so picked up a 23mm f2.8 to stick on my X-H1.
 
H1 to T5 and I'm happy with that.

We I started with a T2, after the Nikon debacle with the d750, I gave up on them and switched to Fuji. Always had Nikon before that. D40, D300, D700, D810 and then the recall special D750. Hey ho. I don't need lightning fast AF for what I shoot. So will most likely keep the T5 until it gives up the ghost.
