personally I thought giroud deserved the red card
It probably was a red if looked at in isolation but when you see some of the challenges of late it appears to be very unfair.

Sorry, but spitting, however disgusting, is not an assault. Biting, and the rash of nasty tackles over the last few weeks is. I don't think we'll see Suarez for the rest of this season, quite rightly imho.

Not to mention more than a few United fans who left before the final whistle, presumably to get on the last train headed down south![]()

Sorry but you are completely wrong here!
Spitting IS an assault and is treated as such by the police (I know cos I know people who work in custody and if anyone is ever spat at by a detainee then they are charged with assault)
Also if someone is spat in the eye and the person spitting has HIV then it is known fact that spitting in the eye is one of the easiest ways to transmit HIV or any other infections onto another person, so in this case spitting is certainly on a par if not worse than biting.
Shouldn't every incident be looked at in isolation? An incident either deserves, nothing, a yellow or a red. To put the idea into Ref's minds that one decision was or was not given previously, and this isn't as 'bad', and so changes the decision making process somehow is wrong imho. What if all the Ref's don't see the same incidents? Obviously human nature will probably do that anyway, but it shouldn't be encouraged or be an excuse why a decision wasn't given.
Match officials will make mistakes, they only see something once (or not) and in real time after all, but there is no excuse for the FA not to make the correct decisions later. The Suarez incident highlights this perfectly, the officials apparently saw nothing. A few of the 26 cameras covering the game luckily caught the incident. Ironically the the officials not seeing it leaves the route clear for a large Suarez ban and fine. The 'not being able to over rule the Ref' rule if he has seen an incident, needs to be abolished of course, but there doesn't seem to be any sign, or even discussion of that. :shake:
Question the incorrect decisions, not the correct ones. Giroud's 'tackle' was a dangerous foul and deserved a red. Worse decisions having not being given is irrelevant to the Giroud incident imho.
I bow to your superior knowledge.![]()

Back to Suarez, why the witch hunt? Defoe did similar and barely mentioned.
hasn't he brought this on himself?
if suarez had not racially abused Evra he would not be hated
if suarez had not dived round all day he would not be hated
if suarez had not stamped on players he would not be hated
if suarez had not handballed v ghana he would not be hated
if suarez had not handballed v mansfield he would not be hated
if suarez had not goaded moyes he would not be hated
if suarez had not bit someone in holland he would not be hated
if suarez had not given fulham the finger he would not be hated
if suarez had no chinned a player on int'l duty he would not be hated
if suarez had not refused a handshake he would not be hated
if suarez had not bitten ivanovic he would not be hated
so whose fault is it?
the fa, SAF, bitters, chelsea, the national front, belgian police, dem yanks, b-rodge, souness, redknapp, fellaini, cantona, keane, duncan ferguson, paul davis, some wigan lad, aguero, BUT not suarez apparently- despite him being the only common theme in every single offence.

Anyway, just for fun, who do you all hate most? Barton or Suarez?

Surely even you admit that one was funny
Andy Townsend commentating, Arjen Robben playing, there can be fewer more annoying combinations in football, ignoring the cannibal.
Barca are going to need something amazing in the second leg.
Incredible display from Bayern. Not a team of players I like but you have to give the club respect for the incredible side they've built. The combination of speed, technical ability, physical presence, tactical awareness, discipline and hard work is just too much for most sides.
A 3-3 result over two legs in Arsenal's clash with them looks even more respectable in light of how Barca were utterly overwhelmed today.
They're not two sides I like particularly but it was an excellent match to watch.
An excellent point!![]()
Actually, thought he should have been booked for provocation, and showed what little respect he has for fellow professionals. It's no different to Adebayor (sp?) running to the Arsenal fans when he scored for City. Lack of respect!
Twas a fantastic performance and result for Bayern tonight.
I fancied them to win but with Barca getting an away goal - 2:1 or 3:1
4:0 could well be tie over but you just never know with Barcelona.
As for RVP - do you think he'll have sobered up by the Arsenal game ?

This witch hunt on Suarez is purely because he is a world class player and all the other teams wish they had a player of his quality and are purely attempting to drive him out of the game to harm Liverpool FC.
Gee
Lighten up. If a player can't celebrate in front of a manager or opposing fans then what's the point.

I see you're an Everton Fan.......funny that. What are your thoughts on Duncan Ferguson!!!!
You're way wide of the mark. It's because he's the most vile and disgusting footballer we've seen in the premier league for many, many years.
Liverpool fans - always the victim somehow.
we're not being victims we're just sat back amused at how wound up and serious the rest of you lot are taking it all.
It's only football!

Calm down Dear...Calm down
So you would't have him in your team then. I think you and most others would.

Why so serious?

OK the, a little more light hearted. See if you can read Jamie Carragher's article sticking up for Luis yesterday without spraying tea/coffee over your keyboard.
To quote: "It is as if Luis is the only player to have represented Liverpool who has ever been embroiled in controversy - that simply isn't the case" and
"Luis was wrong, but before we hound him out let's remember there have been other Liverpool legends who were not exactly saints"
In other words, in order to try and mitigate Gnasher's behaviour, Carragher has listed all the violent/controversial things Liverpool players have done in the past!! Including Souness punching a Romanian and breaking his jaw and even talking about Stevieee G's affray charge (from which he was found not guilty)
I guess LFC and his team mates will understand what he was trying to do![]()
10 game ban...ouch!
