The General Car Thread

Yet again you're only response to anything car related is just anti Tesla b****x!
As I have pointed out to you before there have been plenty of car threads on this forum over the years and none of them have been derailed by me that has only happened in the last couple of years since you and your mate have turned up. Him with his poor maths ( several other people have noticed it and tried to put him right) and and you, well your just a troll.
Is it anti Tesla to point out someone is wrong about something.
If you don't like it, deal with it, but don't make me out to be the bad guy because you and your clueless mate don't like the truth.

Earlier in this thread you stated you hardly came across any EV's on a day to day occurrence - now you are trying to say Tesla owners experience long queues to charge their vehicles.
You can't have both !

News flash. I live in the UK, not California.

News flash. I live in the UK, not California.

So why are you posting about california?

Then this:
From what I have seen over the past few days, this is not a one off incident of queues of Teslas waiting to use the chargers. It has happened in several places. Only the first few people in those queues will be waiting 30 minutes for a charge. The fact they are all there together requiring a charge, I would say there is quite a bit of anxiety spread through that queue.
So Tesla now have temporary supercharger that now run off a battery pack rather than a diesel generator. I wonder how they get them to their temporary locations. With the ability to charge 100 cars, I wonder how long they last before the battery pack has to be replaced. I wonder how the replacement is delivered and the used battery pack is taken away. Why not just install more permanent charging stations?

what have you actually seen then? (Queues of Tesla's? .............................oh no you only see one very infrequently!)

We are NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR TESLA BASHING!!!!!!!

Go troll someone that gives a f&@£.
It wasn't me that posted about the queues in the first place.

I take it you have no answer for your b******t - hence the offensive post?

You didn't initially post about the queues but you did add in a later post 'From what I have seen'.

So have you seen queues of Tesla's as you have later stated or do you hardly ever see them as you initially stated?

Which is the Lie and which is the truth?

Or are they just both made up to add 'effect' to your prejudices?

Don't shout 'Troll' at someone just because they catch you out.

Kind of backs up my argument from a few weeks ago about having fewer supercharged in one location, but having more locations spread around the country like other charger networks do.
I can't remember where I saw it but I did read the other day that Tesla has an insufficient service and repair network as well.

Today I actually saw my first Model 3. I think the driver was either confused or lost as they were pulling off a petrol garage forecourt and they were quite a few miles away from any charging stations. :)

I pull into a petrol station every month or so (in the Leaf). It's where there's a whirly wash. Not odd in the slightest (apart from to those with a prejudice against whirly washes!)

Nice, love the colour.

It's called triple yellow , in bright sunlight you can barely look at it , overcast and it's much more subdued, at dusk it's almost a mustard colour

I'd only seen pictures of the colour as none of the local dealers had triple yellow in stock

I wasn't expecting a big reveal , they put in the showroom with a cover over it when I picked it up, when they pulled it off it was all I could do not to swear :D

It was universally loved in France , I didn't see anything remotely interesting car wise in 8 days , a sea of Peugeot,Renault and citroen .

Help!

Showing my ignorance and in the middle of a busy commission - I have borrowed my eldest son’s Peugeot 5008 on and off since he normally uses a company van to do installations.

I like my music when I am on the move but the 5008 only has a USB socket for media.

I must be getting old but I still prefer my CD music collection! Thy he USB docket is not in an easy accessible place so I am thinking that a CD burner type unit might do the trick and I can swap disks safely and auicy by pulling over etc. I don’t want to waste time ripping music to SD cards.

Phoned Peugeot and felt 100 years old after my query. They are probably still laughing! Any (clean) thoughts?

Steve

Something like this?

That looks the business! I had hunted through EBay but must have missed this!

Thanks for that! As usual, a forum help shout yields a perfect answer!

I googled and they came up with the ebay link. :)

Weird but thanks to you, a result was forthcoming [emoji818]️

I cannot be rrrsed to convert my CDs, I did a huge FLAC conversion a couple of years back but the files are on a 4 HDD network drive. I am loath to muck about so a case of CDs is OK. Ty hey are peanuts to buy if they get broken. I went to a market in Boston (Mass) in September and was getting music CDs for $1 a time! Few vinyls too!

I had Mondeo Estate as a company car in the early 1980's

I had a fairly minor front near side quarter prang. It was weeks in the body shop.......the explanation was that they were struggling to straighten it on the jig. The reason as I recall and given was that the early production models had a 'cost saving' in the longerons i.e. they lacked sufficient/appropriate strength! I think it was getting the point when my MD was going to push for a replacement as it was still fairly new.

Suffice to it drove a little oddly once I got it back :(

Now's the time to buy a new Mondeo and hide it in the shed for 30 years. With our ever increasing move towards electric - will there be a market for cars of today as future classics, as there is currently for anything like an XR3i or Sierra Cosworth?

Someone did the maths a few years back and to store, service etc. a car ends up costing more than the car is eventually worth (with a very, VERY few exceptions).

Are you sure it wasn't a Delorean you had. It's the only car I am aware of that was capable of time travel. :)
The Mondeo wasn't launched until 92. :)

A mate of mine has a Mondeo ST220 and at the end of last year he picked up a Mk2 (?) 1998/R reg V6 Ghia which he's just got back from the bodyshop after some restoration work and a respray.

Fingers crossed I can drag the Escort out of the lockup and we can go for a drive somewhere this weekend!

 oh dear, my bad.....................it was the predecessor i.e. the Sierra.....though in my defence wasn't the Mondeo based on the Sierra floorpan??? :coat:

I doubt it (a bit). The Sierra was the last RWD (European car) Ford and the Mondeo was FWD with a couple of 4x4 variants.

Didn't he claim that Tiffany Dell had punted him off? Or was that another excursion?
