my camera club has used one of my images in their set for the competition. ive only herd it spoken so i dont know if im spelling it right so apologies in advance. its the melbourne competition, the judging/event is being held on monday in cambridge. im so proud i got in, that placing anywhere in the comp will be a bonus for me.

i have tried looking it up but havent found anything about it so any details would be nice, this will be my first proper competition so im excited :D

ooh what pics did you enter, I hadn't even heard of any competitions locally

It's the Melbourn Trophy - Melbourn nr Royston and is a competition between camera clubs in the local area. Presume you are in St Neots from the fixture list?

My club (Swavesey) got to the semi-finals last year and lost to Cambridge by a point...

Well that was an interesting night.....

The judge was rather cambs biased, everytime an good image came up he would say: "This reminds me of when cambridge....."
we had a strong set in my eyes, but only averaged 15 out of 20, where as cambs who had a set on par with us mostly averaged 18-20.
anyway, we lost so cambs go through again....

Well, I suppose that's art for you... and fallible 'oomans. As one who's never been near a photo competition, I confess to being a little mystified as to how one image can be scored objectively against pre-defined criteria.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the average image type for Cambridge? Did you notice if the majority of them were landscape/architectural/wildlife?
