The Waiting Game

This is a case where IMO including a significant section of environment really works, I like it. :)

Yes, it does and I like it too. :)

I would suggest a 16:9 crop to restrict the view on
the far BG and concentrate on the FG reeds.

This is definitely a case of less is more..(of the heron,I mean) Excellent. :D

A very good capture. I'm sitting here laughing and don't we need a laugh these days

Daniel has a point. I think a crop from the top to just above the back of the reeds (the brown ones) would enhance it. I took the page down on my screen and it works fine..well, to my eye.

I agree with the crop views and it does look more impactive.
Noted for future posts.

Sorry I️ think you could loose a lot of the left hand side and have a great shot

If you are going to crop it I would suggest losing some of the water, I like the OOF bullrushes in the background
Lovely picture

Unusual framing but it works very well on this occasion. I like the suggestions of going with a panoramic and I'd lose some off the top if you go with this, leaving the heron about half way up in the shot.

I'm with the crop of the top down to the reeds mob, the small vegetation in the water in line with the Herons beak, draws your eye to take in the overall picture, not just the bird :)
