I'm going to Dublin next month with a few friends but only for 36 hours. We'll arrive mid-afternoon one day and probably head to a pub to get drinking and hopefully have a good night out. The next day we're looking to do the more touristy thing and I'm tempted to take my camera dependent on where we decide to stay (I wouldn't trust leaving my gear in a youth hostel!) so does anyone have any recommendations of things to do or see within the city that have good photographic potential?

the brewerys are a good place for photography, and the canal/river in the evening is lit up nicely, iv been the past 2 januarys and stayed in temple bar.

make sure you et at the elephant and castle in temple bar - the food there is superb, articularly the chicken wings, but dont try and eat them all yourself, you get 40 odd!

There was a great thread a while ago with lots of things to do in Dublin, I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: Here it is: Link

Temple bar gets a lot of mention. That sounds like a food challenge to me. Who wants photos of me stuffing my face? :D

Great thanks, now why didn't i think to do a search :cuckoo:

The people are fantastic to shoot, linky , the brewery, the university and I agree that the E & C is a nice place to eat (chicken wings were OK but anyone who likes chicken wings must like anything as I feel the only flavour you get from a wing is the sauce, you may as well ask for some soda bread & their sauce and dip it with the bread)

Nip into the Auld Dubliner, Farringtons (Temple Bar) to see some great musicians.

Don't forget your wallet!!!!!!!!

drinkwise have a pint in the palace bar, its a great traditional pub with a communal room setting at the back im going there myself on the 10th august, when are you there?

Some good shots in your thread. Sadly anywhere expensive is off limits. We've got flights for £24 and accommodation will be even cheaper!

I'm there on the 17th & 18th.
