Yes
Up at Sywell Country Park today I spotted this goose coming in to land on one leg, it wasn't til I got home and saw the shot that I realised why. I've sent a copy to the park but I doubt they'll be able to do anything. Some angler will be sobbing at the loss of gear, this fella just lost the use of a leg thanks to him/her :(

Indeed! Very sad, but very good shot to show the issue....

Not exactly the anglers fault though. I doubt they would just throw away line with an expensive lure still attached to it. Probably got snapped after hooking a pike and ended up bobbing on the waters surface.

I do agree though that it isn't nice to see, and maybe the tackle companies should look at developing terminal tackle that breaks down if in contact with water for an extended length of time.

Quite agree Paul, I have lost lures in the past, either with a fish on, or simply on an underwater obstruction. I generally try to recover them if possible (try different angles on the line, by walking up and down the bank), but often there is little you can do.
It is not a pleasant thing to see though.

That is very sad to see :shake: but as has already been said, no angler wants this to happen, we never want to loose any equipment or want that loss to cause harm to the wild life :shake:

Good capture though

Apologies if it came across as bit of an anti-angler rant (I do enjoy a spot of sea fishing myself) but I was a bit wound up by it yesterday. The goose seemed to be coping ok btw, if not at all happy. It is rather ironic that I was actually quite pleased with the shot and thanks for the compliments on that front!
