Have been using Thunderbird for years, its very good, though maybe not as idiot proof as Outlook Express.

I got fed up with Windows Mail crashing on me and swapped over to Thunderbird. Took a wee bit of getting used to, but I've been really pleased with it

When I had windows I used it for a while. Lost all my emails twice in a month. Admit I am a bit useless with the tech stuff, and now am mac and mail does all I need.
