Im looking to get a panning head for doing time lapse at events. Basically would like something that can pan as my slr takes photos.

anyone got any ideas?
 
There is a hack for modifying an IKEA egg timer to do this. A Google search should bring it up.
 
Good eh? I'm going to try this myself. Such a great idea and given the nature of the 'mount' you get a fairly accurate pan time estimate for your calculations.
 
had a look at these. not too bad at all. gonna make one up i think

for more control though i built one out of lego last night. configurable up to 180 degrees of panning and think it will take about 6 hours to do so
 
The Syrp Genie looks like an interesting device for time lapse. It seems to be new and relatively untested, but if it's as good as their site suggests it could be an excellent tool for time lapse photography - at a price.
