To carry two bodies on vacation or not?

I'm sure I'm not alone in my thoughts about simplifying the way I shoot street photography. It's hardly a new phenomenon

"Alleged".... Oh dear.

This is your idea of street photography? So the prisms is to simply take a picture while you are standing on the street. That's funny stuff! Nice hijack btw.

I'm half way through a blog about my experience working with Zack and the rest of the team at GPP. Maybe I shouldn't bother now he's rested his case :nailbiting:
Here is a thought! maybe you should try starting your own thread instead of hijacking someone else that is here to get feedback on a serious topic. You started off by baiting me into challenging your so called "street photography" (with someone else shooting) when your whole plan was to promote yourself. You even have the nerve to tell me I am using the wrong equipment and when I imply you don't know what you are talking about start dropping names. Do me a favor and get lost! :spam:

I gave a friendly enough response about why carrying less stuff can be useful - you're first response to me was "you've been reading too many books and not shooting enough". Who's the one being hostile here?

As for the other stuff:

Bating you into a challenge?
Whole plan was to promote myself?
TELL YOU you're using the wrong equipment?

None of that has actually happened. Anyone who reads my contribution to this thread (all five or six posts) can see that.

You are right though, this is your thread and I have taken it off course. That wasn't my intention - sorry.

Adam implied that I hadn't actually done what I said I did. I posted a little "evidence" to prove I wasn't full of s***. No, this isn't my idea of street photography. It's my idea of a quick snap the Fuji guys asked me to get. This would have never been posted if Adam hadn't basically called me a liar. Surely you can see that?

This is a great thread! First it was about the size of a cameras. Now it's a spin off of a comment about a 70-200 lens.
I'm not going to take any sides. (and then I go ahead and take sides!:)) No. In China town I can see lots of opportunities for classic "street photography" as well as other types photography. It'll be a rich location. I can imagine the 70-200 will be quite useful. It's not all street. Typically, as you go around, you'll get shots from a distance, middle close, and up close and personal. Different situations where different focal lengths are beneficial.
Naturally trying to cover all bases "might" mean carrying too much gear for the "mingling with the locals" mode. This is the trick we all want to get right. I do suspect that the locals can still tell that you are a tourist anyway, regardless what you are carrying.
For "many" it would be a shame to miss out on one type of shot because your are set up for the other type only. Others might be happy to focus on one type only. I'd be so tempting to try to cover everything when there are so many wonderful opportunities cropping up frequently. I'd personally travel light. With 1 body and 1 large sensor compact.

And this is what I said all along. Bring a 5D3 and a a7 series compact camera

I'm with you on the A7. Sony are leading there. Panasonic too. However I'm still critical of "any" camera that is bigger than full frame film SLRs like my Olympus OM-2.
