To www or not to www?

I have noticed that certain websites when their URL is typed in any browsers [Firefox as my default] the result is a dead page like in case of canon.co.uk without the www.

Why the above happens and if there is any setting which can be tweaked?

Not sure why that happens, your site doesn't appear to work even with the www though?

Works for me, why not hit the link in the suggestion drop down box.

Your link to your sit is a 404 but your flicker is OK.

That's because my site is "expired" and I need to take it off my signature strip

It's all to do with dns records on the web server you're trying to access. Some are configure to redirect requests to the base domain name to the www folder - others are not.
