I shall be on my hollies  in the Torbay area in a few weeks and was wondering if any of you fellow toggers knew of any good locations for me to visit.

Isn't Torbay :D

It depends what sort of shots you are looking for.

You could take a stroll along the coastal path from Battery Gardens (Brixham) over to Torquay, it's a long walk though so bring some good boots it's also got a fair bit of climbing up stairs, so pack light. The coastal path is good for landscapes and shots of the sea.

The old fish market (Brixham) is good for some shots as well, if you walk along to the operational fish quay and around the public footpath, you could get some artistic shots of the old harbour, crab/lobster crates and the occasional boat. Might be a good idea to check the tide times, depending on how you want to see the old harbour as it almost empties out at low tide.

Along the harbour in Torquay can produce some nice shots, especially at night when illuminated, although beware the clubbing scene which is popular there.

Paignton beach, or any of our beaches, along with the coastal walks can provide good sea shots.

Starting in Torquay the harbour area is good and also Babbacombe and Oddicombe where you can get some great panorama's of the bay.Moving onto Paignton again the harbour although very quaint compared to its big brothers at Torquay and Brixham is very nice and the pier makes some good shots as well
Heading out on the Brixham road Goodrinton is pleasant photographically in a twee sort of way and if you are into trains the shot of the Paignnton and dartmouth railway from the beach with the beach huts in shot is a classic location.Moving on towards Brixham there is another good railway location of the viaduct at the top of the hill as you head towards the beach and in Broadsands some nice seascape and landscape locations.
Brixham itself as has been said before has a great working harbour and finally I would suggest a trip up to Berry Head and the lighthouse

Feel free to have a look on here for a few ideas

Teignmouth/Shaldon, if you go to the top of "the ness" (the big cliff) you can get some really lovely shots.

We will be staying on a campsite just outside of Brixham.
I shall definitely give it a visit.

Thank you all. :D:thumbs:
You have all given me some great locations to visit, and I shall try and do as many as I can in the week that I have.

Well as above Must point out that the local railway has Steam trains you can get some good shots from Dartmouth over the water. most of Devon will give you lots to photograph the thing is what are you interested in?
Exeter is a great city with both modern and old buildings along with the cathedral
Let us know what your looking for I was born here 60Yrs ago so know it well.

Get a Steam train to Kingswear (starts at Paignton stops along the route), take the ferry across the River Dart to Dartmouth.

Exeter Cathedral has a lot of scaffolding on it at the moment.

About 60 minutes or so up the coast Eastwards you have Lyme Regis and the Jurrasic Coast including Lulworth Cove.

29 miles west will take you to Plymouth, but there are many fantastic places along the way. Slapton Sands/Ley where the Normany landings were practised, Kingsbridge, Bigbury Beach and Burgh Island.

North you have Dartmoor with it's many attractions, Tors, Dams, Rivers, Clapper Bridges, go via Totnes and at Dartington there is the Glass factory.

Don't go too far south though without a boat!

Enjoy your holiday!

its 1:30mins 67 miles

During the tourist season c/w caravans?

I would say that a trip into Brixham and Mifsuds is a must, then head up to the point. Keep an eye out for seals on the rocks offshore from the point - might not be the right season but I have seen them off there. Dartmoor shouldn't be missed - way too many places up there to list as possible locations; you could spend years and not see them all. If you must, you could visit FastBuck Abbey - or give that a miss and visit Buckfastleigh Station and/or the Otter Sanctuary and butterfly farm. Totnes may be woth a visit but it's a bit hippified. Exeter's not too far up the A380 - good luck parking (park and ride could be a good option).

I like the idea of looking out for the seals.
There is also a shipwreck not far from where I am staying. So I shall take trip down there the same day when the tide is out.
I have just taken a look at the misfuds website. mmmmmm goodies.
I have so many locations to choose from I don't know where to start.
Thanks again to all of you for helping me out.:thumbs:
