Anyone use this lens? I will be using it on a Nikon 2D so not full frame.
mainly street work and events. Want a great sharp lens that opens up when the sun goes down .

Now from my research , this lens is a bit of a legend.
I have one in "my sights" But its coming in at £300.00 with postage from a dealer in europe. Thats s/h but great condition

firstly: Is this too much ? and what do you think about this lens ?

Thanks

Luke

£300 is too much! Nice but not stunning, typical Tokina quite good at 70mm wide open, f/4 is better.

Tamron 28-75 is a much better choice.

I let mine go for £75 to someone local.. she's happy with it (does kiddy portraits with it), but this is stopped down using strobes, not wide open.

Thats a mad price ! They seem to be doing very very well S/H on ebay and everyone has topped £250.00

OK.. Maybe its just this Months "lens to have" on the net. There is no way the seller will take £200-250. I know that the II version is a legend amongst tokina lenses.

will maybe have to see if i can locate one cheaper this summer

Weird - I had this here for £125 and no one wanted it!

I imagine the people hyping up the performance are the folks trying to get £250+ for it..!

I know that the II version is a legend amongst tokina lenses.

Its due to its tenuous links with "Angenieux", a French lens manufacture. Tokina bought up this design. Angenieux are a failed lens manufactuers.. so beware "legend" status from folks asking £250+ for a lens that is easily outperformed by several other lenses.
