Hi everyone,

I am a total beginner, dreaming of taking beautiful photographs which I can show off to everyone. So my question is can you recommend any courses that will teach me the basics? I live in Belfast and initially don't want to spend a fortune incase I am not very good :)

Thanks

Surely it doesn't matter how good you are to be on a course in the first place - I thought that a course is to help you get & to better what skills you do or dont have..

The best way would be to get your camera manual & have a read thru & then venture out and take photo's... Practice makes perfect as they say - save your money as getting awesome shots will take a little time to get & wont exactly come overnight...

Hi by the way...

Hi there

I am new here as well and had my camera for about three years. Only really just started to use it though but the first thing i did was take photos on auto focus and just get use to holding the camera and the feel of it. Then I moved up each setting the next one on my camera was the P and changing the ISO.

I am actually taking a course though that I will be joining tomorrow and it's with the DMC http://www.digitalmasterclass.co.uk/Photography-Courses.asp I know a few people who are on it and they have said it really does help to think outside the box and try new things.

Hope this helps

Hi by the way...

I have read over the manual but need to put it all into practice as you say - I'll get practicing and maybe let you all see the results soon

Hi mate, the NRC (Northern Regional College) does a GCSE in photogaphy which I thought was great in terms of getting to grips with photogaphy. I have just completed mine and found it fun and rewarding.

Might be worth checking out www.shutterbugclub.com

Good value (£35) courses that you complete in your own time. Each course has "assignments" for you to check what you've learned and the courses are written and backed up by a pro photographer who will critique your work.

Fairly new site but developing a good reputation.

Best wishes
Monty

Hi, good to hear you enjoyed the course as I have looked into the courses at Belfast Met but as yet not booked one - thanks
