training

I'm in a similar situation and from the many threads I've read people seem to suggest that it depends mostly on how you learn and if you can motivate yourself to get out there and take photos. If you have the motivation get some books on the subject and learn, or if you need help with it maybe joing a course/camera club.

I'm looking into doing a short 8 week course starting in January at my local college (its only £85, not a lot to lose if it's rubbish!), and depending on how that goes I might look into doing a more formal qualification. I'm also looking into going for a Licentiateship with the Royal Photography Society just because it will help me focus on a goal, which hopefully won't make the task of learning photography so daunting.

A course is much better you need hands on, however you can pay to learn on line which is not ideal , get the most you can from free lesson sites , reading books, looking and analysing photos, etc as well as a hands on course. I'll send you a pm with a free learning site
