I am shortly buying a iMac and I am told there is difficulty transfering photo's and documents from PC to Mac , Any advice would be welcome

Use an external hardrive or similar formatted on fat32 and you shouldnt have a problem

I think it is pretty straight forward

Connect both the mac and the PC to the same router.

On the PC - right click on the directory you wish to share, for example "my documents", there is option to share, it may be in properties. (you may need to turn the firewall off, turn it back on when you've finished)

On your mac - it should now be visible in finder on the left.

Or use an external HD to transfer files

Loaded up an external HD with all my stuff from old Windows PC then just moved the USB over to the MAC :suspect: Bobs your uncle....... didn't have to format it differently or anything.

Once transfered all across I now use it as the Time Capsule HD and its still working ok :)

exactly as mr thx said, your mac will be able to read an ntfs drive, it doesn't have to be fat32 as others suggest. its just writing to ntfs that it can't do
