transfering software to new pc

Hi Guys. Thinking about buying a new pc and wondered if you can transfer software like adobe cs3 , lightroom and onone to the new pc without the discs (dont have them). Is it possible and easy? They are currently installed on xp and would be using windows 7.:shrug::shrug:

no I doubt you can transfer them from the other pc. What you can do is you can download them and use your serial number if you have them.
 
Why transfer files? why not have the old hard drive added to the new computer so the computer has 2 hard drives? Just a possibility?????? someone with more pc knowlege should be able to say its possible or not

What he said. Swapping the hard drive into the replacement PC won't solve the problem of files missing from the system directory or data from the registry.

As stated, if you have valid licence(s) for installed software, download the installer and bang in the code.
 
Without the software and codes it will be nigh on impossible and Adobe have some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced

Time to bite the bullet I reckon and get some new stuff in or look round for some older s/hand copied of your existing software.
 
If you download a program called Belarc Advisor it will when run tell you everything on the computer including OM codes.

Is there a PC version of Apple's Time Machine? That's a great piece of tech that enables you to erase and install everything without original disks. Would be surprised if there isn't something available for PC, although it may be at a cost....
 
I believe Norton do various backup programs but one would have to check.

I must confess that I skim read the OP post at first. As indicated by E17phil, unless you have a current version of the installed software or the installation media (evidently not), you're basically screwed with or without the installation / activation code(s) you can cull from Belarc Advisor.
You could of course, (as indicated by realspeed), clone the hard drive as an image with Symantec Ghost or perhaps Acronis True Image - or similar.
This still leaves you with a problem though.
Theoretically, if you have the OS install DVD for the new PC, you could wipe the boot drive and write an image to the drive you ghosted to it, then upgrade to 7 with the install media.
There are likely to be horrendous problems though as not only are you upgrading the OS, you are working with new hardware. The HAL will go nuts and the device manager look a picture.
In all honesty, I think you'd be very lucky to get away with this.
There is an application called the Universal Imaging Utility (UIU) from Binary Research which will - allegedly - allow you to transfer a working system to new hardware; never tried it - and - expect it's expensive.
