just wondered if anyone uses a tripod shoulder pad for carrying large lens and tripod over the shoulder? If so which one?

I don't know about UK but in this part of central Europe,
they come in a few sizes but only in one colour: sky-blue!
 
Grey/silver here as well as blue.

It comes in grey here ... to match the sky

You can buy various diameter / wall thickness combinations of Armaflex as split or un-split online LINK

I used to have an 055 rob but have a nest that looks like Gitzo range with large centre disc I could carry this yesterday over my shoulders, one leg over each shoulder facing forward and third leg down behind my back in line with spine if that makes sense? With lens pointing down backwards toward floor and was fairly comfy apart from carbon poles pressing in shoulder blades hence asking about pads, I could even use my binos while walking with it as it balance/wedged so well. I'm sure I looked a right plonker though hahaha
 
I wa where I found the barn owl in September so want to walk about with ease of putting it on floor quick and taking shots if needed, I might try the pipe lagging but thing the centre disc will dig in still?
