I've been looking at Tripods for one to take with me to shoot a 24 Hours race (spectator) as I want to get some light trail shots at night. The problem is my budget is relatively low. I do have the added benefit of enjoying shooting wildlife & I shoot automotive with light painting, so a good tripod for that wouldn't go amiss but I don't want to be lugging around a heavy tripod if necessary. I've seen this; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...t_3561_be_117t_5_section_foldable_carbon.html which is at the upper range of my budget and I already have an Oben Carbon Fibre monopod and I really like it but unsure on their rep regarding 3 legs & their ball heads. Does anyone have experience with these?

If you could recommend any others, my criteria are;

- Needs to be sub £300, even that is pushing it. My money tree has no leaves just yet
- I'm 6'2" but donesn't need to be head height as most will be shot kneeling down
- It needs to be able to support my D7200 + Sigma 150-600mm
- Needs to be relatively light, under 4KG

There was a nice tall Gitzo that went n FleaBay few days ago for £166 so it's worth keeping an eye out there.

Keep an eye on this one:

But don't go too much higher than current bids.

This one looks very nice too (I used to have one!) and the head isn't bad either - though it may go higher than you want to bid:

The owner claims that it is OK with a 600mm lens. Well mine (with the Wimberley head) was quite adequate for a 600 F4 L IS and my 800 F5.6 L IS.

Just food for thought?

I have a Manfrotto CF heavy duty tripod with gimbal for my long lens stuff but have to admit I never use it as it's too bulky (and I am not a fan of tripods but was told when starting out that they are a MUST when using heavy lenses) but at the weekend I got one of these delivered from Amazon so I can try something lighter. I have added a ball head and it seems very well put together so I may even start carrying it around with me.
