I got some welding glass the other week and today is the first sunny day where I could try it :(

anyway - tres busy today so I thought I'd just do some practise in the garden - clouds were going pretty fast so...

WELDING GLASS by moominmama, on Flickr

I think I handled the green ok, did the custom balance thing and a bit of PP (red cancels green so I upped the red quite a bit)

still a long way to go but I can see noise - this only appeared after the red went above a certain level. Any ideas? iso was 400

thank-you

PS I know the focus is out - here I am just trying the colour levels :)

If you push any given channel (eg. red) too far you will get noise.

The sky looks a little muddy to me, Stu.

I have a preset for LR3 that I use, which I must update for LR4. Custom white balance takes care of 80% of the colour correction and then some minor adjustments to individual channels. LR is also pretty good at taking care of any introduced noise.

What software are you using for the correction? PS/LR?

I'm on a very limited budget (ie poor) so I only have gimp. I can't use RAW either as my PC is too lowly :)

When I used welding glass I never managed to neautralise colours satisfactorily. Always ended up with an image like your's and converted to black and white. I think you'll struggle even more not shooting raw.
