This morning, at 6.30am, my wife heard banging on our garden fence. I've also heard our side passage gate rattle as cats, on their nightly prowl scramble up and over it and over on their way to the brook, trees and scrubland opposite searching for some unsuspecting small creatures. They often walk along the tops garden fences. She got up,looked out and woke me. Walking alongthe narrow top of the usual 6' fencing were two young fox siblings...I'm guessing. They looked very healthy with lovely coats. I was surpised at how adept they were at walking along the narrow top of the fence. They climbed down and went across our garden to the fencing on the other side and went up that..no problem. They jumped down into our neighbour's garden and ascross that and up the fence at the bottom of their garden and walked along the top of that. At the bottom of my neighbour's garden,on the other side of the fencing, is the very large pergola of the house in the close behind and these two foxes jumped off the fence onto the roof of it and started drinking from the huge rain puddle on the top of it. After a few licks they dropped down onto the back wall of that garden and off towards the brook (that crosses under our road) to the grassed area and probably home nearby trees and lake.
