Uk mattress recommendations

So our mattress has given up. We have a super king bed but we’re struggling to decide on what to get. We have up to £800-£900 I spend. There’s a Dream shop near us, we tried one and liked it but I read a couple of long reviews about them sagging after a while and their warranty process being difficult.
I was intrigued by the Otty mattresses but your unable to try before you buy

We prefer a medium-firm mattress, not into memory foam, don’t like sinking in or feeling too “enveloped” in the bed.

Any brand suggestions??

We had a Dreams mattress that we bought many years ago that served very well - I think it depends what you prefer. I imagine they still do traditional construction mattresses? We more recently bought a new one here in Northern Ireland but it probably isn't available in England so no point in sharing details. But suffice to say it is traditional coils with memory foam topper, and is superb; mind you it cost £1300. But if you spend unto 8 hours a night on it 365 days a year, it's cheap for a good nights sleep.

I think that’s the kind of design we’re going to go for. Tried an all foam one and you sink in far too much for me.
Going to have to go around and try a few more. We’ve only ever bought cheaper ones before, makes it a lot harder having more choice

I have found the Ikea ones to be very good over the year at a good price.

Pocket sprung for us with a natural filling pillowtop comfort layer, but it's an internal top layer not external. I do find memory foam quite good for moulding to your body shape, but I find it gets very hot.

I don't know where you live, but the best mattress I've ever had was traditional sprung, pillow topped made to order to fit a continental bed I had at the time by a little independent shop in Carlisle and to my recollection it wasn't that expensive, I don't really get on with memory foam I find them to hot and not particularly comfortable. I do like quite a hard mattress though.

Unfortunately I think it's a case of we are all different and what works well for one person doesn't suit another.
I will shortly be buying a new bed and fully appreciate your issue. I've decided to narrow it down to type e.g. coil, memory foam etc then try those in the shops to decide. I'm fortunate to have a couple of local independent shops and there's no hard sell from them.
Similarly to @lindsay I've decided to up the budget to hopefully get a decent mattress but I appreciate that may not work for everyone

You can try them out as much as you like in a shop but until you've slept on it for a few weeks you've no real idea as to whether or not it's the one for you. Having spent well north of £2,000 for a non-returnable, hand made Harrison Spinks mattress a couple of years ago which I've never really got on with I'd never buy another unless it had a lengthy free trial period with a no questions asked full refund policy. FWIW I've had a Simba mattress for the last six months and I find it very comfortable so it won't be going back - albeit it's still within the return period.

We have two Tempur mattresses which are very good but are memory foam and expensive.

I bought a Silentnight Premier Inn mattress last year which is also very good. It has several layers including a memory foam one but it doesn’t feel like a memory foam mattress.
