More of a please help me thread:help:
I have been asked to partake in the production of a music video which is to be filmed in the lost underground tunnels of coventry, my role will be to provide photos alongside of a videographer.
I have vast knowledge of the location, and can say that when i say it will be dark, it will be dark beyond anything seen before.
I would like some advice regarding lighting etc for down there
many thanks:thumbs:

Every time I have done underground shoots (disused mines) its been a long exposure job and the whole area light painted with a LED Lenser P7 torch so thats probably not going to be feasible whilst using a video camera.
Its certainly a challenge getting the exposure right and the light painting technique as its easy to under light some areas whilst over lighting other parts.
The P7 torch is a great little thing that really throws out the light

I'm guessing there will be lights to shoot the video - so you should be fine.

It will be a speedlight job im guessing myself, my main concern was as it will be such an enclosed space and so dark are mainly focus and having light bouncing everywhere

i do alot of long exposures, but not many that really involve people, i have been looking at the lensors for some time now, and keep meaning to invest in one as most of my light painting is either done strobist style or using home made gadgets:thumbs:

And just to point out, due to the location the amount of gear we can take with us will be have to be kept to the bear minimum

If it's pitch dark then there will have to be lights for the video to be able to shoot. If you're shooting set up shots using the video set, then use the video lights or even a combination of video lights and a speedlight or two if you want depending on available space.

If focus is a problem (it shouldn't be under the video lights) then stick a speedlight on your camera and use the AF assist beam.

If you're shooting 'behind the scenes' stuff take a fast-ish lens and use the video lights to get what you can.

Cheers:thumbs:, i think the guy shooting video will be haviong the same dilema as such as although we know we need to take lights they have to be very minimul.
Imguessing it will be a case of seeing what gear we can get onto location the working from there:thumbs:

To be honest being familiar with the location from what you've told me about it I would think it a little silly to try and do what they want to do in the location, the logistics of it are a flipping nightmare, and with out some serious lighting the results will be rubbish, I fail to see how they're going to get power

im not sure on that one either:shrug:, but they seem to think its a great idea:thinking:
your right the logistics are gonna be a right headache, which i have explained, taliking to the guy just i have suggested we go take a "site survey" as it is easier to sho than to explain things:thumbs:

I can think of a couple of locations where the logistics would be so much easier and with a lot less associated risks of the location that they want to use
