Unsual Situation - Advice Needed

Hi,

Can anyone advise me on an unusual situation I find myself in please?

Ive recently been acting as a 2nd Shooter for a wedding and am looking to get as much practice in as possible.

My colleague in my full-time job is getting married and so I asked if I could tag along and take some photos and any that she liked, she would be welcome to free of charge. This was O.K with the bride/groom and the official wedding photographer.

My colleague (bride) has asked if I would be able to produce a wedding album consisting of the professional photographers photos (and any of mine that she may like). Unfortunately, the professional did not include an album as part of the invoice.

Now this would be the first time I would be producing an album ever (if I go ahead with it) but my predicament is that I wouldn't be able to produce an album any cheaper than say the professional would. So it may make more sense to just ask the professional to add it to the overall cost of the invoice.

I went to the wedding photographer I shadowed previously and he uses a website named One Vision Imaging. I checked their prices and they are at least £150+.

Is it worth me pursing this? Or should I advise the bride to contact the professional?

Do you/ the bride have a licence to cover use of the files in an album?

I would think the prof tog would not only be charging cost for the album, it makes no sense to offer to do extra work for no profit for the tog.

This might be true but irrelevant if the customer doesn't have permission for the images to be used in this way.

Unless the official photographer has given you permission to use his images, you would be in breach of copyright if you produced an album using them.

Given that wedding photography is his livelihood, and that the supply of albums probably constitutes a considerable amount towards his income, possible damages for breach of copyright could be considered as quite substantial.

Thanks everyone.

I think it would be best to stay away as I didn't realise possible copyright issues.
