Updates on canon camera bodies

Hi everyone, I'm in the midst of buying a new body but before I purchase I want to make sure I have a body that will not be quickly replaced by an updated version. I'm interested in buying the canon 7d, but will canon update this body soon? How long usually does canon take to update a camera body? Thanks everyone for the help


Also I'll be using the 7d for mostly portraits and model shoots, is this a good camera for this type of work?

I have to 2nd that. I have a 7D and it takes great portraits, but if that is your mainstay, then the 5D, or 5D2 is the one you should be looking at.

Don't know, but would think the 7D would be more sports/wildlife orientated and the ones mentioned above would probably be more suitable

I'm sorry I forgot to mention that video recording capabilities is a must for me as well.
 
The 60d should be available by the end of this month according to rumours if a video capable xxD series would suit you.

By the sounds of things the 5D ii would be more up your street for portraits though.

Rumours are that it will be announced by the end of the month, but then your looking at probably October for limited availability at full canon RRP with it probably not dropping away from that to a more stable market price until after xmas.
