Upgrading an old body

Hi all.

I have an old Nikon d80 with a 35mm 1.8 and a tamron zoom,

Now I recently got a cheap canon 550d with 50mm 1.8 but I'm second guessing myself now

I have 14 days return on the canon, and I'm thinking I liked the ergonomics of the Nikon better

So with a £200 budget what would you recommend,

Most my shooting is of family or on walks nothing fast moving but alot of it in less optimal light at home etc

Cheers Jake

Look at the Nikon D7000 series or if your happy with lower MP and don't shoot in low light try the D300s they produce nice images and are robust.

Test pic with the canon,

1/160, f4 800iso

I'd say average light creeper24k.jpg

Not sure if the 550d is much improvement over the d80 atm.

So been having a good read and for around the £200 mark the two stand outs are

D5200 and the d7100

It's a rabbit hole for sure, some seem to favour the 7000 others the 7100

The D7100 was the replacement for the D7000. The improvements over the 7000 included an increase from 16Mp to 24Mp sensor and upgrade in the processor from Expeed2 to Expeed3.

Is £200 enough for a slightly snotty D700? That'd probably handle suboptimal light conditions better than a D7000 (which didn't handle much at all I found). Couple it with a 50mm 1.8G and it's a nice setup for not all that much money. Ergonomics should be fine too.

Read my mind, upped the budget and picked up a d700 with 27k clicks, and a 50mm af-d.

Sat at the post office atm
