Used lens prices on ebay?

I bought a lens from Ebay recently and when it arrived it didn't work. The seller swore blind it worked when it left him. I said I wanted to return the useless paper weight he had sold me, he refused. I tried to get my money back through Ebay and pay pal, no dice......I asked the seller to claim off his postal insurance he refused and told me to do it. I gave up, bit the bullet and paid another £90 getting it repaired.

What do you mean no dice with paypal

Paypal almost always side with the buyer. I don't know your fully story but after numerous problems on ebay. Paypal have always managed to get back my money. Its one of the few good points left about using the Ebay system.

Paypal are con-men. I had a bloke buy a phone off me and 6 weeks later claimed it was not as described and sent it back less the manual and charger. Paypal came down on his side and gave his money back. Their complaints process is a joke, I sent email after email and they kept ignoring my argument, so 3 months later sold the phone for less money. They then said as I had sold it I could not appeal and that i needed a police report. They are a joke and should be avoided as a seller.

paypal are pretty good in my experience.

ebay support however dont know their arse from their elbows.

Neither pay pal nor ebay helped, it was to so with the fact the item wasn't new. I gave up in the end

Did you raise a "Significant Not as Described" dispute - I've bought a few things on Ebay and with an unreasonable seller this has always done the trick...

The price some of these lenses are going for (for the best part and more near the bottom end or the lens market that the higher) as said and known is rediculous at the moment. But thats 1 thing, the other being the risk of weather or not it works properly (of cause I know the sellers feedback etc comes into play) and or possability of getting damaged in the post etc.

That all thought about I,ve decided after looking at a link that was posted showing used online firms etc and the prices there that it would be better and seemingly cheaper to goto 1 such shop in person and I then have the luxury or trying the lens first.
