Hi all, just got a Jessops 360afd flashgun, what setting on the camera will work best? Camera auto or manual? It's sitting on a Nikon D5000.

Thanks in advance:thumbs:

Sorry Phil but the question is a bit of a vague one imo, depends what you are shooting, are you going to bounce the flash, what ambient light is available and so on. RTM, press some buttons, experiment and decide for yourself ;)

ooops on my stupidness :bonk:

Mainly going to be used for taking team shots and individual player shots indoors

Had a quick play and in camera auto mode it's........:gag:
found better results in aperture mode which seemed strange

as for the other side of camera trickery and flash, im looking forward to the experiments :D

thanks so far though

In A you get fill flash. In P you get full on "I'm in charge" from the camera.

You will find that LOTS of things change when you start to use flash. Even your normal way of thinking of exposures in terms of aperture, shutter and ISO change because the functionality is different. If you have a good read back through that link I posted you will find what I mean. WAY too much for me to write here and Neil does it SO much better :)
