Is this the right one for the 24" iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo processor?

Thanks.

I don't know the answer to that, but whenever I've bought additional RAM for my Macs, I've looked here. Makes it pretty easy to select the product that will work.

If I'm telling you something you already know, I apologise.

I agree with Mr pants. Crucial is THE place to buy memory from imo. The web site is so simple to use, you just choose your machine from a series of drop down lists and it takes you to a page where you can buy the memory upgrade. You can't go wrong really :)

Great prices and quick delivery too

Thanks guys, I am well aware of Crucial and will probably use them but I have a biggish order to make with Amazon and was thinking of tacking it on there which is why I asked if it was the right RAM.

Depends on which iMac you have. The top spec one which I have takes different speed DDR2 Ram to the rest. The Ram in that link is for desktops and the iMac uses Laptop Ram.

Thanks Snapper, this is the one I am getting.

I hate being a hardware numpty! :)

You're buying an imac from Comet!!!

That page doesn't give the processor details (I can't see it) but with that size hard drive I suspect the processor will be the 2.8 ghz. But I would have thought, at that price, it should be the 3.06 ghz which comes with a larger hard drive as standard. I can't confirm these details as the Apple store is down at the moment which usually indicates some significant announcement.

I think the memory requirements of the more recent Imacs do vary depending on the processor used so it could be very important to establish exactly what machine you are buying.

If you are getting the 3.06 ghz 24" with 500 GB hard drive then the memory is this one -

£35.64 incl vat from Crucial.

It is the 2.8Ghz one you just have to Tab across to the specification tab. For that price you can get the 3.06Ghz one for the apple store with student discount like I did. Just need to find a friend who is a student and you get a nice little discount.

If you buy the imac from an apple stores they may sell you the extra memory at or close to the Crucial price - and fit it for you. The store that I use has done this three times now :D

And, repeat after me -

I NEED a 3.06 ghz

I NEED a 3.06 ghz

I NEED a 3.06 ghz

I NEED a 3.06 ghz

I NEED a 3.06 ghz

Thanks everyone, I'll order it tomorrow.

I wouldn't normally but I got a shedload of vouchers from work and so a new iMac is costing me just £120. ;)
