When the sun eventually comes out in the UK, do any of you guys use polorizing filters for your motorsports shots?

I would not… even in Austria!

The CP is a great filter when used in a VERY SPECIFIC conditions
and incident light direction. Since you have to pan your subject, it's
use becomes, to be successful, quite cumbersome and will slow all
of your work down… I would not.

Always find it a pain getting a nice shot, but having some killer reflections in the windscreens. Some tracks it is less noticeable than others (e.g if they have larger areas for run off)

Very occasionally when I want a slower shutter speed than the aperture and minimum ISO of my camera allows - I don't have an ND filter!
Can be useful (for its intended purpose) in the pits/paddock if you have access to it/them.

I have found them quite useful when shooting through the fence - they can remove the horrible grey artefacts you get.
