hi everyone I’m looking to buy a camera that does video and has a microphone socket and a screen I can see myself on.
The Canon M50 looks the ticket but I am wondering if there is anything else I may have missed?
I plan to get a rode shotgun mic.
I don’t need 4K and I already have another camera for photography so this camera will be just for video.
Thanks.

It would do the job, and is a good general purpose camera.
The size and weight will be an issue, consider a smaller camera to complement it such as the Sony FDR-X3000R still (almost) better than Hero7 IMO

What about a camcorder? Why? here is why and even do 4k now

you don't get that with a camcorder, no problem with zoom- no having to change lenses- no limited recording time

This is my Panasonic HC-X900m camcorder example. Wind noise is always a problem

no need for lens change and the flip out screen on the side can be turned to face the lens
Ignore the spacers shown below the mike, they are for my nikon cameras to get some distance from the camera body

This meets all your requirements and takes stills as well

That mike is a Sennheiser MKE400 add the deadcat is from Gutmann. it has the longest wind deflection fur for this size of mike I could find
