Vista SP2 out today

I downloaded it and it does seem to work, My IE8 hasnt frozen once and the PC does seem to be running a lot smother and faster.
Lets see how many times I have to clean my registry out

I just wanted to say thanks for the tip off. I noticed this post last night, left it downloading, started installing this morning and when I got home from work all was well.

I uninstalled sp1 as it made things slower. i assume i will need to install sp1 again before doing sp2?

Installed it this morning and lost my display completely. :bang:

Only way back was to revert to restore point prior to SP2 upgrade. Was sweating for a while.

Need to work out a way to upgrade my video driver after the upgrade. Driver isn't loaded in safe mode so I can't uninstall it.

Installed it this afternoon after reading this thread, no problem during the install. The memory usage seem to be a little lower, but time will tell if it has made a difference or not.

just started the download, yes SP1 is a pre requisite

sweet all on and running, got the Office 07 sp2 as well, certainly seems to boot and run a bit quicker, so far so good :)

Ha, ha, you're all mad... mad I tell you. Guinea Pigs R' Us... :D

It seems ok to be fair. I certainly wouldn't have touched the Beta with a bargepole though!

um thats what beta and release candidate testers are for..

...so everything that's released after beta is 100% then? Try telling that to the millions of people who have suffered at the hands of 'beta tested' software...

So, nothing gone pear shaped then?

I bet it sends my system up the creek

where did i say that? i was saying that your comment about guinnea pigs should be more aimed at testers.

i needed to do a reinstall of MSN Messenger, nothing major. my other gazzillion support apps have no issues.

there are reports of the NOD antivirus package crashing a lot on SP2 however. something to look into.

Downloaded.....installed......no probs
now I am starting to worry, that never happens with Microsoft ...lol

SP2 forces an update of Messenger anyway so nothing out of the ordinary there.

I Dont know if its in my head but the system does seem to run a little sweeter / quicker etc.

does it? didnt notice.. odd it worked for the first 24hrs then stopped loading at all. had the same with XP SP3 if i remember rightly?

Yeah. That is if your not up to date all ready.

Everytime I start up messenger now the update wizard pops up, if I press cancel it carries on with the old version.

ah right, i had the latest version already it just stopped loading after a day of having SP2 installed. just downloaded the setup file off tinternet and reinstalled over the top and worked fine ever since.
