Welcome! Between 1st January - 31st December 2012 Wakefield Cathedral is inviting the people of Yorkshire (and visitors too!) to volunteer for a special community photographic project:

In 2013 Wakefield Cathedral celebrates its 125th birthday as a cathedral. To prepare for this, in 2012 we are undergoing a major internal redevelopment. This is a hugely exciting time for the cathedral and the city, and we would like to invite 366 photographers to play a part in recording this historic year in the life of this great medieval building.

All photographers are welcome to take part: student, amateur and professional, young and old. This is a great chance for the whole community to be involved.

Every day during 2012 we hope to have a different participating photographer visiting the cathedral to photograph something of our daily life, in a unique way according to his or her own style and interests. Come and join in!

We aim to update this site daily with a new photograph from our visiting photographer of the day. Optionally, additional photographs may be added to the gallery and the photographer's thoughts on their visit included in the blog.

Selected photographs showcasing the work of the 366 Days photographers will be included in an exhibition in 2013 as part of the cathedral birthday celebrations.

Visit our How it Works area to find out how YOU can get involved!

My stepdaughter who lives not far from Wakefield is starting out with film and is studying photography later this year so this may well be of interest to her;

Thanks for sharing the info ....I will pass it on!
