WAMT....what annoyed me today!

One of my early summer holiday jobs was supervising a (?)Bridport CNC milling machine doing its thing and changing the jobs (NOT the punched tape programme, just the sheets of material that it was set to drill lots of holes in!)

I thik it's the stuff we used to find in drawers and cupboards that hadn't been opened for years.
A spool was enough for a whole office worth of christmas decorating... :tumbleweed:

I have been retired for some time nd I have never shopped at Tescos over a weekend.


I always go to Sainsbury's during the lunch hour when all the office workers are rushing around, the fun you can have when you are old!

The fun bit is when you get into a queue of younger office types at lunchtime and you dither getting coins out of your purse (filled specially with coppers only), sort out your paper vouchers and perhaps ask for a seat or glass of water at the checkout. The more harried ones sometimes even pay for your stuff.
 
It's fun dropping condoms and loob into oldies' trolleys/baskets, just to see the look on the cashier's face as they scan it!
 
Not what you might think. I saw a picture of some fly tipping this evening, and there was an old camera amidst the rubbish. :(

Needed to print out some stuff today Printer was on [ links to laptops by wireless ] so hit Print
Nada :( Snarled and deleted the file from printer queue and tried again - same result
Said a few words , switched off printer from mains - went and made coffee then switched it back on again
Nada !! Scratched head as my tame guru is away from home at present.
Decided to shut down the Laptop [ it's getting on in years and can't be updated so is not used for everything now - mainly Word processing ]
Went away and did some other stuff
Hour later came back , fired up Laptop , got File for printing on Desktop , hit print and HOORAY - success.

Heaved a BIG sigh
 
Who snaffled the last one and did he put them on the shopping list?

(We rarely have biscuits here because they never make it into a tin!)

If that had been me, it would have printed all the failed ones when it kicked back up again! Grrrr!

1 week on and still no fix for the machine, service guys say they can't help as my machine has no part numbers on the parts.

I've sent photos and any labels they put on.

They seem to suggest it's my fault for lack of info.

They now seem to avoid my calls.

They built the dam thing!!

I've started my own search now, seems Siemans stopped the motor and encoder in 2019 :runaway:

I'm sure I'll get somewhere, a call to the local machine rep is next on the list ;) it would be a shame if the next machine investment went to another firm :p

re water butt supply from garage /workshop roof

yet another minor MR Bodget fix. The small wood gutter hanging support to hold the gutter up he made the same size/length.
As the far end is lower than the near end in the photo what he did was to make the gutter twist. Consequently the downpipe didn't fit snugly into the end gutter section.
This has been bugging me for ages so this afternoon made another wood support for the far end a bit longer so now the gutter doesn't twist and the downpipe is square to the end gutter section

Aa minor thing but really annoyed me seeing it not right day after day

Long story, a few months ago a woman came into the charity shop I volunteer in cp,--mooing that she had been told to get off the bus because she cou;ldn't find her bus [ass which she was sure was in her bag. I just said she probably had the option of paying the fare and the driver was within his rights to ask her to do so, she stormed off saying she should have known I would stick up for the driver !!!
Every time I got on the bus that she was also catching after that she proceeded to tell everyone who would listen how I would of course always defend the drivers, which is true if they are in the right, this included her shouting after me that "I needed to watch my mouth" one day as we got off thee bus. strange that as I have never said a thing about it and a;ways just ignore her.
This week has -been worse, on Monday she tried to block me getting off the bus and today I missed catching the early bus that I came in on back home s had to wait an hour for the next. one.
As I finished shopping I got a coffee in Greggs and decided to wait in the bus station, 20 mins till the bus came, she was already sat there and for the next 20 mins sat there with an inane grin, staring at me, when a woman sat in a seat that partially blocked her view she ke[t bending forward or back'
I had my Kindle with so just drank the coffee and read my book, when the bus arrived I went to the bin halfway down the station to throw the empty coffee cup, she still tried to watch but I was out of sight for a while.
The driver was off the bus and I offered him a flapjack I had bought in Mountain warehouse in order to get 50% off of what I was buying
Bus was quite full so I sat in the wheelchair bay until someone got on with a pushchair, moved to the back of the bus tp let her pafrk the wheel chair, and the damn woman followed me and sat opposite, this was her 3rd move to get closer
I got off a stop earlier then I normally would lady with the pushchair had already rung the bell,
She was already poised to go at the next stop and I just wonder what her next move was going to be, she had her mobile open in hand so who knows.
If she hoped to get me arguing with her she is out of luck I just ignore her and walk on, but I am at a loss as to why after all this time she is still doing these things,
If my pass fails or I can't find it I just offer to pay, some accept some just tell you to go and sit down, it's their choice and they have the right to make you pay if that chose
I am at a total loss as to what to do, I have chafged the times I use buses, but that that isn't always convenient

Remember doing a stock take a few years ago, normal to check the high value kit. There was a £30k part still in its box tucked away at the back of the engineering store, looked as though it had been there years. Wait time for the part was near 12 months, without it the plant would not run.
Site has since closed and that specialist part never did get used
 
@Gremlin I do recall using my local bus pass in York 200 miles away and it did not work. I explained that it had worked in my home town the day before and we were assured that they should work in any town. The driver suggested that there must be a technical problem that neither of us could solve but to just carry on. I travelled several more times that week in York and each time they just waved the pass through. I suspect that he reported the issue and they were all told to wave them through. However, I can understand that the driver could not do this if you could not produce a pass.

I'm not that worried about her doing anything, just so damned annoying. like a fly buzzing aroun
She used to tell everyone what a horrible person I was because, they didn't seem to take ad notice and still talk to me, perhaps that's the problem :rolleyes:
Luckily I only catch that bus a couple of times a week, won't get involved in a confrontation, just ignore her

It's driver discretion and they would get into trouble if an inspector got on and you couldn't show you had a pass, if you have one that didn't scan they wouldn't know as they only look at them.
Mine got rejected on a metro bus last week, just got waved on, changed to a Compass bus to finish the journey and it was fine:rolleyes:

Fire alarm in my hotel going off when I was in deep sleep having only been asleep for about 50 mins. Completely disorientated but still got out before pretty much everyone else!

WAMEM* was how selfish some people were, only interested in what free stuff they could screw out of the one member of staff who was looking after us.

WAMT - Relatives of my neighbours who have to shout and beep their horns every time that they arrive or leave. Just come and go quietly please! We don't need to know that you are on the move!
 
I had plans for the evening with my friend, but she just texted that she wouldn't make it(. And the fact that I have to come up with something else not to spend the whole day at home annoys me a lot
 
SKY , placed an order for broadband last week at £26 month, cancelled my BT broadband at £64 month, email today from sky - unable to complete order due to failure to port landline number, please ring, rang only to be told order cancelled due to above failure . Why didn’t they just let me know before cancelling at which point I could or would have said forget landline. Now told will have to reorder , that will leave me 7 days of no broadband
Not a happy Sky customer
stupidly I have also gone to sky for mobile in June so now am stuck with that for 3 years
will now ring BT tomorrow to see if I can get it any cheaper

Why couldn't they port the number?
 
Roadworks! Right outside the house.

It isn't the roadworks per se as roads need to be maintained, it's just that today I'm not feeling great and they aren't helping.

First world problem for sure. Time to pop on some cello and turn up the volume.
