Wanting to get a compact for comfort

Yes
I am really getting the feel of my DSLR now and it feels pretty comfy, I mastered the little knack of wrapping the strap around my wrist and going walk about one handed. But it does mean I always have to carry my little camera bag around with me also.

I have got my eyes open for a nice little compact that looks and feels like a camera. I was in the shop the other day and the fella said I have just the camera for you. He brought out a Sony Cyber-shot and he was telling me what a lovely little camera it was. While I was trying it out, I just thought to myself it looks and feels like a mobile phone. Even the way you hold it, you hold it arms streched out, mobile phone style.

Why are they making them like this now ? They look and feel awful, I much prefer the rangefinder style, at least I think that's what you call it  They feel like a camera, and they look like a camera. I think it would give the user more of a photographer user, rather than a mobile phone shooter.

Hope I am talking sense here! I was just thinking, it would be nice to spend a day with something nice and neat, and easy to blend in with. Now what camera would be a good choice

Maybe have a look at something like the Canon G1X or G12? Or possibly a Panasonic LX5 (with EVF attachment?)

I've got a Canon S95 and as far as compacts go its nice. Ive got the DSLR for proper photos so want something small, low profile that i can fit in my pocket and carry with me and it does the job fine.

If i want something that feels like, looks like and is roughly the same size as a "camera" i'll take my DSLR out!.

the Fuji x10 looks nice for this kind of thing - bleddy expensive for a compact but if you are trading in/selling the dslr..

Nice looking camera looks a little bulky though, and a little expensive..

Yes the Canon S95 does have some good functions, but it does not seem to have a veiwfinder!

I do like the Fuji x10 but as you said expensive...

Looks like I will be trawling through the camera shops once again :bonk:

The Nikon P7100 has enthusiast capabilities (including a viewfinder) and very good picture quality for a compact.
