Water droplet equiment. how to?

right so ive seen some pretty amazing water droplets on TP and flickr...

quite hard to see how to do it though, as in camera settings?

also with the drips what do people use to control the amount of drips and hit a specific location everytime?

your feedback and help / opinions are very much appriciated..

lets hope we can get this thread to help people with producing some amazing droplets including me :)

Heres my first simple setup my current on is much more refined, but this will show you, you really dont need a lot of equipment

Tripod on a table that has black plastic bags for protection, large bowl with a plate on it for the crown shots, as you need hardly any water to create crowns, and a suitable colourful background, we used that as it was all we had to hand,with a light angled, shining on to Background which should be more upright than pictured as it slipped, but not the plate, all done in a slightly darkened room and we used the flash

Zip lock bag suspended, under the tripod, with a small pin prick in it to hold the water and its easy to refill, LOL I even managed to catch a falling drop

And for the droplets, a large pint glass or bigger, full to the brim with water, placed it the bowl to catch the splashed water

Have a look in the tutorial section, iirc ashmash did an excellent piece on water drops. Sorry on my phone so can't post a link to it.
 
Varying the depth of water in the receptacle can give you different splash characteristics too, as can varying the height the water drops from.

As can what's in the water and it's temperature.... Warm water is splashier than cold and the different viscosity of water can give some interesting effects.
