Is the clamp an 'official' council/highways/police one with sticky notice on the windscreen/window?Today I saw a car on the road where I live clamped. I've never seen this before. The car seemed to be parked well enough but it was next to a house from which people run a car valeting business and it's bedlam with cars and gosh knows how the neighbours put up with it so it could be connected to that.
It does annoy me that our road is so chocka with cars and it does make things difficult. I can't see any reason for it, I have three cars and I never leave them out apart from brief periods when I'm shuffling hem, washing one or loading and unloading.
And the one thing, polite though his gesture seems, is to not rely on other road users instructions......if disaster happens "you" would be the one at fault.Today I came to a T junction with quite poor visibility so you have to crawl up to it and look both ways very carefully, which I did. To my left there was a young guy coming on a pushbike and he was riding in the the way many do, badly. He was swerving about down the middle of the road with no hands on the handlebars. It's so common it's almost the norm here so I didn't give it much thought and I sat to wait until he passed but then.... He raised a hand and gestured for me to pull out. That was very unexpected and I don't think any cyclist has ever done that for me before.

How much David, if you don’t mind me asking?Walking into my dentist to book an oral hygienist appointment, expecting it to be in a few weeks time to be told "it's you lucky day!".
And 30 min later teeth all sparkly
Not so cheering was the cost

Oddly enough, I only go to the dentist if I have a problem.
Dividing my bills by the number of years between visits comes to roughly £10 per annum. I do have a powered tooth bush, used twice a day, and use a mouthwash after each clean. Of course, mileage may vary...
I was told "after" but who can tell?I'm sure you are supposed to use mouthwash before the clean?

Floss, brush then Interdental brushes then leave as mouthwashes wash away the fluoride in the toothpaste, use mouthwash after meals, lunch/ diner.I was told "after" but who can tell?
It's like egg ends and we know where that went...![]()

£68. I've looked at dental surgeries here and, it's £68-75. £98 if it's more than routine. Plus the floss they try to sell...lol. I use the orange plastic/wire 'sticks' to get any bits out that don't move with a toothbrush. Dental care is expensive but necessary.A rather ouch laden £75, I leave it for a year rather than the recommended 6 months
This is in London/Hertfordshire - would be interesting to see what people are paying elsewhere?

What do you regard as a more "aggressive" toothpaste? My dentist used to leave my gums bleeding after a "clean". They have to ask now, if you want one as (dentists?hygienists) opinions vary as to the effectiveness and if the extra "cleaning" causes more damage than it cures. I now decline, use a more "aggressive" toothpaste once a week, in rotation with normal cleaning and flossing and haven't had any problems since!

That's why I have my done at 18 month intervals not the six monthly intervals they prefer..well, they would wouldn't they. Better late than never, Laurence.I'm feeling really chipper this morning and can't wait to share the good news. A few months ago I was referred to the Pain Management team at our local hospital and I spoke with them this morning about where I am on the waiting list.
I'm 79 now, by the time I reach the top of the list I shall be 83![]()

Seriously, though. I've thought how awful longstanding, maybe permanent pain, must be to have to live with. When I had my shoulder ops..rotator cuff damage..I was given Zapain and it worked. My understanding is that if someone is referred to a pain control clinic even the most powerful pain killers don't do the job. It's reading posts like yours and those in the Prostate Cancer thread, not to mention Andya700 and Jelster, that make me realise how fortunate I am that I don't suffer any of those conditions or anything serious atall.

I can cope during the day but it’s the nights that destroy me. I probably spend about 2 hours each night walking around the house or looking at Youtube rubbish.I've suffered back problems since my 20's, was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, have 3 dodgy discs and 10 years ago was also diagnosed as having facet joint arthritis....
I was having injections into the arthritic joints but then they stopped giving me them and fobbed me off onto a pain clinic who were only willing to offer physio and painkillers.
I stopped taking painkillers and live with the pain...At night I always try to fall asleep in the position I find most comfortable, which is on my left side
My chinese "shed" is now completed. I won't be putting anything in there that needs to be kept dry ( Isn't that what sheds are for?). The corrugated, flimsy sides and roof, are all fixed into channels, which hold the water, until they are full and then spill over inside the shed, because the designer put the higher side of the unequal channel on the outside! Classic! If you lean on it, anywhere, it puts the frame out of square and then, the doors don't close! The (lifting) roof safety chains broke immediately, so I replaced them with sink plug chains (from my dry, old, wooden shed!). WCMUT? It's finished! Oh! I can now move the "junk" (that I "can't throw away") off the floor of my "proper" wood shed![]()
Blimey! How much does your chair weigh?I'd have one if only I could lift it into the car. They weigh twice as much as my chair @ 6.5kg and I have enough trouble lifting that.![]()
Been looking to get a new Tassimo machine and had one in my Amazon list which was around £80. Looked this morning and it's now £34!![]()
