Really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes and have a nosey at my website - www.davhughes.com.

I'd really appreciate your feedback.

Cheers.

Looks fairly good to me...

I'm not sure about the content on the bottom of the home page, i.e. locations, about etc etc....you have dedicdated pages for these, so IMO, this just clutters up the home page...

On the prices page, under 'St Moritz' There is a clash of text, looks like one lot of text is on top of another....

Also, the text in some sections of the website looks a little messy...i.e. under studio and location shoots, i would justify the text, so it looks flat on both sides...and make sure the spacing is correct after each heading...

I've only briefly checked it, but hope that helps...

No real time at the moment to do an in depth review but the picture you have is too deep. The majority of laptop screens only have a depth of 768 pixels. By the time you take out the header and footer real estate of the browser you get about 600px of usable depth. Reduce the main picture to 550px tops to be sure that the detail at the bottom of the picture is visible on first viewing.

I'll have a look at this in more detail in a week or so.

better, everything looks nice and crisp (a little too spread out but I'm running 1920x1080) which is a massive improvement

not a massive fan of the top links, try some different php rollovery code

the biggest issue is where the hell are your pictures, you're a photographer right? lets see some of your work :D It should be what sells you

nb I did find the gallery link but on second look, needs to be more prominent ( I have the reverse issue of my text being way too hidden but working on a way to do it nicely now)

just opened KILL the music ****es me off royally and any 12 year old can add it to myspace so what does it prove asides from that you like ****ing people off (nb my pet hate of the internet)

be way more specific about the photos you show, there are a few corkers but some naff ones, only show the corkers and you're gravy let them see the ***** when they see a complete wedding once they've met you and you've made your pitch. The whole point of a website for wedding work is to get people on the phone and through the door, then its up to you to sell to them.

Come on - keep it coming ;)

Thanks for the input so far - appreciated!

Ok, I've had a good look and here's my take on it, for what it's worth.

I don't like the logo far to the left on the homepage, it looks out of place. The problem you'll then have is a mass of white space to the left, so it may need a differently framed image.

Galleries - The frame needs to be centred, it looks a bit weird stuck to the left of the page like that. Also, for location shoots the first picture they see is of the boy and the steps, this would leave me cold as a potential customer. Although it's a good shot it does have an NSPCC feel to it, as do a few of them in the slideshow. I'll be honest, there's not a lot there that would make me want to book you for a portrait session, I'd get some nice colourful ones showing a few smiles etc for the first few images, draw the customer in.

Finally, what's your main target market? If it's weddings, you need a wedding picture on the homepage. If a bride clicks on your site and sees a studio shot for the first image, they'll click away. Can you have a slideshow of various pictures showcasing everything you do? If studio stuff is your main target then leave it as it is but people will associate you with whatever they see first, so if the studio picture is the first thing a bride sees, she'll think you do weddings on the side and that it's not your main business.

That's my take on it anyway. The site itself works fine, things do need to be straightened up a bit but it's easy to navigate. The only other thing is that your first blog post makes no sense at all, it's titled 'Studio shoot' then has something about the Welsh mountains, with no picture.

I hope this helps in some way

Hi Dav,

If this is a first attempt then well done, good job mate.

I would, however, recommend that you have a read up on certain areas. Try looking into CSS and practice designing pages without the use of tables. Looking at your code, your site is tructured by using tables where you should be heading towards the structure by use of the div tag etc.
I know this sounds a tad picky but it is good practice I assure you :)

Kind regards
