Wedding Photographers hate link.

"Value = Quality + Service + Price"

Using that formula suggests that the more you charge the better value you are!

Are the photos in the artical supposed to be really bad

Anybody want to post their own version here? He makes some valid points I think. Although I agree does look the weddings he shoots probably take place behind bars :-)

I think the photos are an example of how not do do it

 My coffee remains intact - he makes very valid points, regardless of how he looks [he possibly needs to heed his own point #9] and yes, I think the pictures are meant to be examples of bad, not good, shots. I dont see him saying anything that hasn't been said here in photography advice threads.

I have to agree with the others. He does make a lot of very valid points (apart from the value "formula") and having got married last year I can relate to a lot of them. I don't see anything "ridiculous" in it and the only improvements I would make would be to get rid of the golf and shopping references. His web site on the other hand ...........

I think he has phrased the value thing poorly [possibly maths lessons didnt feature in his 'behind bars' education] - I think he means a 'good' or 'reasonable' price, as opposed to straightforward price.... if you see what I mean.

and yes, I agree about his site.... :whistling:

HE does seem to know a lot about the way cheap photographers work though - I wonder how he started out :-)

Yeah, I knew what he meant I was just being facetious.;)

Nit picking - it's what we do best here ;-)

I won't comment on the work as it's not really fair but the website is a little "cheeky" to say the least. "International award winning photographer" actually means a monthly forum comp with 10 entries and getting 33% of the 21 votes. I also noticed some sneaky scripting for "email us by {insert today's date here** for an extra free print" type stuff.

Still, if it's working and people are buying more power to him ;)

He's obviously a salesman turned wedding tog :-)

Agreed. To a degree. I just get the feeling that he's a bit too glib. He says to trust your instinct, which is something I believe in, and if I follow this advice I woild not have him at my wedding.
He's certainly got the gift of the gab....

#11 : Don't book a photographer who dedicates more space to words than photos.

yup.
does make some valid points.
though i think price is always a major consideration for customers.
ok they book us on work and reputation. but if we were too expensive, we'd do a dam site less work.
were not cheap, but wee arent expensive either.
and does having lots of staff make you a better service?
nope.

OK, has anyone considered contacting him to at least give him the opportunity to respond and discuss HIS document with people on here???

Wow, interesting thread.

I just joined up today. I had a good read of the terms and conditions before I registered. A great deal of attention is paid to making defamatory comments about other members. But as I was not a member at the time you guys will be in the clear with the admin, not so sure my lawyer will be so forgiving.

One of the great benefits of membership of the FSB is you get a 24 hour free legal helpline.

Would anyone like to clarify their comments about me and my clients before I inform them of the situation?

I can't see any bars in any of the photos on my website. Parhaps you would like to post a link to the ones that give you this impression? Or perhaps you have formed an opinion of my past clients based on they way they look. My lawyer might assume you mean the blank ones. Thier lawyer might too.

Not defamatory?

The 'R' word is a dangerous one to bring up, especially without any basis for that accusation. I'll grant you there have been some unsavoury comments, but as fabs has said, for the most part people were wading in to defend you. Had I seen it sooner I may have done so too, but now you just seem overly defensive, and I hardly think any lawyer will be interested in anything that's been said on this thread. I agree with much if not all of what you say in your booklet, but that doesn't mean I think you're right in what you've said on this forum.

Is this a typical thread for this forum? I wonder why you guys love it so much, safety in numbers is it?

Going to share the legal costs too?

I'm serious, I will be taking legal advice, from a lawyer, not a stranger in an internet forum. I have made a note of the contact details of the parties concerned, including the site owners.

So to answer your question, yes I will be around and interacting.

Well that put a gloom on the evening :)

I'm sure the comments and jokes were simply that, not meant to offend. Rather than threaten us, you would endear yourself more by sharing your wisdom.

Welcome to the forum :)

Or at least point out the racisim?

And there was me thinking this forum was a clean family friendly place, when all along we were harbouring the KKK? Wow, I must have been so blind.

What I see is people's opinion and I'm pretty sure you can't sue anybody for that. I would also like to know why you have used the word "Racism" in your post.

Hi Chris

What acusations? I have not accused anybody of anything?

A member of this forum thinks that my weddings were photographed behind bars, insinuating that the clients were in prison. And have stated this based on photographs on my website. Some of the photographs on my website are of black people. At this stage it is unclear which photographs they are referring to. I have requested clarification so the people concerned can be notified. Not too much to ask.

I believe the comments were about the quality of the photos on the pdf, which to be honest are pretty poor. Don't know how you made the quantum leap to the fact the some of them were of black people, and you made that leap very quickly.

I think perhaps that you meant black clients, not blank ones. If you're going to insinuate that people are being racist you might do well to make that clear. I'm pretty sure that nobody here was making a reference to your clientelle based on their race.

I think everyone is still waiting with baited breath to see what your 24 hour legal helpline has to say.

I think it was our Paul that first mentioned his Blank clients. Odd to then accuse us :)

i think perhaps you want to be talking to the admin team first before coming here and lobing in threats of legal action. we are quite approachable

Hi Paul,

I haven't commented on your article, which I fully read (I too thought the picture quality was poor in your presentation) - but for what its worth, my wife is a lawyer and she can find nothing wrong with what has been written here - forums are full of this kind of stuff.

She does admit that a lawyer will take your money for his time, but will advise you that you should just move on and forget about it.

Ratzz

Speak for yourself. I quiver too much when someone threatens lawyers. It makes me wet myself and cower in a corner.

I take it Mr Vader doesn't have a problem with all the favourable comments about this PDF? Funny that.
