Wedding shot with a differance

It's commonly known as a Trash the Dress (TTD) shoot and I'd love to do one but unfortunately all my brides to date don't want to get their dresses wet.:) Add to that the weather in this country isn't always ideal for shooting in water!

Ah yes, the "trash the dress" approach.

Whatever happened to keeping the dress to make the christening robe.

Have to say "trash the dress" looks a lot more fun.

Doing one this summer for bride and her bridesmaids

Might see if I can get Mrs M to trash hers for me. It's taking up too much space anyway.

I always bring this up as an idea in my initial meeting with couples - usually I refer to one I've seen where they lit the dress at the back (flames 5ft high!!!) and the bride dived into the sea from a jetty :cuckoo: - and they so far have always thought it a bloody weird idea and a hearty NO has been uttered

So I then change tack to a 'TTD' Treasure the Dress shoot instead, where they put the dress on etc. some time after the Wedding for a more fashiony type shoot

There is often interest in the latter, but no-one has gone ahead as yet :(

I think Trash The Dress is a better concept than Burn The Witch personally Dave!

Hope its hers and not from the hire shop
Great idea ***

I've done a couple for portfolio building, but its really hard to find someone who wants to do thie 'whole' american thing - the weather doesn't inspire in the UK. Would love to do some in Spain or Greece or other places where its warm!

Get on efrom a charity shop/ebay, find a "bride" to wear it and away you go!

Yep, would love to do a trash the dress shoot, but I suspect most brides would be more interested in cherish the dress if they want any kind of after wedding shoot.... how boring is that?

I have this yen to take a bride round a car scrap yard, but with modern H&S, even if I could get a model into a scrapable dress, I bet we wouldn't be allowed into the yard :'(

You'd be surprised. I know a couple of photographers that have taken a model in a wedding dress into a scrap yard to do a shoot. Just speak to the owner of the place.

It's something I always offer but I've never had a bride yet who's agreed to it unfortunately. :(

Ah well, I keep living in hope! :)

18 months on and I cant decide what to do with my dress. It cost so much, so seems a waste to leave it hanging in the wardrobe, but what else am I going to do with it.

Maybe I should volunteer myself to one of you keen people lol

whoa different! i sooo want to do that when i get married :D

Book me then Ladies, I'll happily set you on fire, chuck you in a river.....whatever you like :D

Just kidding, I do offer brides the chance to dress up again whether they want to do a fashion style shoot (Cherish the Dress is trademarked by Chris Hanley) and I'd love to do a TTD, I'd wreck the dress, cut it to shreds and have the bride walking along in boots. :cuckoo:

I think you'll find that if it's done in water, it's a 'drown the gown' shoot ;)

All joking aside, it's an original idea, innovative, with a LOT of room for creativity from the b+g and the tog - which often isn't there on 'the big day' - it won't be for everyone, of course...but hats off to those prepared to try something a bit different!
