Hi,

Right - I know there is a lot of wedding threads about just now. So, just to point out - I am not a wedding photographer. I would like to be one, but I have a long way to go yet.

I have a question about shooting in darker churches that don't allow flash (noticed this comment on another thread).

What is the best way to go about this? I am guessing its just cranking up the ISO and make sure the body can handle it? Also a bit of post processing noise reduction as well?

What are your thoughts on this?

Paul

You've already said it - up the ISO, any post-processing that will help, and of course the important thing, getting the exposure right to begin with. Can be tricky balancing the need to use a reasonable shutter speed to prevent motion blur and getting a quality image at the end of it.

thats what I thought... just not to good at the low light stuff at the moment.. I ahve a 400D just now but looking to upgrade to a 50D and hoping this will show a little less noise at higher ISO

Cheers

No, No No, That's only one small part of the equation.

Look at your lenses, f2.8 is about the maximum aperture you need and ideally down to f1.2/ f1.4.

Get a good tripod because the shots without flash will be during the service when most priests will insist that you dont move around, its what we had to do in the film days.In addition you will find tghat there is not a great deal of movement from the participants at this stage of the service so slow shutter speeds are not a problem. It also means you can keep at 100/200 ASA and keep the image quality up

I have used my nifty fifty for similer occassions, but as suggested a tripod will be a benefit...
