Hi,

Just seen over on another site a write up of the new announcement - a preview can be found here, or direct from Canon, but the basics look to be:

  • Replacing both the EOS-1Ds Mark III and EOS-1D Mark IV
  • 18-megapixel full-frame Canon CMOS sensor
  • Dual DIGIC 5+ Imaging Processors
  • 14-bit A/D data conversion
  • 12 frames-per-second
  • ISO 100 to 51,200 (expanded 50 to 102,400 or 204,800)
  • 61-point / 41 f / 4-cross AF points including 5 dual-cross type at f / 2.8
  • Similar to the AF point selection options offered in the EOS 7D
  • EOS iTR (Intelligent Tracking and Recognition) AF options
  • AF micro-adjustment (can now be set differently for each end of a zoom lens)

Should be interesting but as some point out it seems they're trying to build a camera for everyone, sports, studio etc - so lets see how that works out.

lol, I scanned the first page and thought it hadn't been posted.. then as I finish I see another thread - feel free to ignore mine :)
 
This is why I think it will be some time, if ever, we see a 5D MkIII with the AF system of the 7D. If such a camera ever becomes available, how many sales will it take from the 1DX?

i dont think so top pros want the best build quality where as me and you might not need such high build quality and such a high rated shutter so i dont think the pros would buy one if it was in a 5dmk11 body with a shutter rated to 200,000 and a price tag of £2500/3000.
