Light meter pointer is not moving . Is the a problem with the selenium cell ?. Do the cells have an expiry time ?.

I have the Weston Master V somewhere and think I recall that it had a meter needle parking lock as it is in effect a free moving meter, if the II is the same could you have inadvertently 'set it'?

I've linked this thread into the F&C section of the forum as I guess some of the filmie types in there may well not come across this thread and I'm sure one or two will have some advice;)

If you have not locked the meter needle - see manual for Euromaster 2 from http://www.westonmeter.org.uk/manuals.htm then it could be the selenium cell - they have 2 failure modes 1) reading low and 2) not reading at all - the onset of cell failure seems not to be directly related to age of the meter, if it has been kept in the dark or in the light or anything else - they just go - I've got a well used scratched and dented 1950s Direct Reader that is spot on and a couple of pristine looking dead Euromasters from various job lots. There used to be somone who would redo the cells but they rean out of replacements. Opening them up to check for electrical faults is not easy and I've never managed to get any of the dead ones going again.

Those are good sites, but note that most of the direct links are to the original Master II from the 1940s-50s (I have one that still works) rather than the Euro-Master II, a much more recent model also covered on westonmeter.org.uk:

There is still someone fixing them, though the cost of a service would buy you a modern Gossen or something:
