Hi all
.
My wife is looking at getting a Canon a MP-E 65mm lens.
We have found ourselves having a bit of a debate on what camera is best, either full frame or cropped sensor.
So my question is to all you guys who use this lens. Who is right?
I have in the past had very small experience with this lens on a 5d mk2 but never on a cropped camera like say the 40d.

40D is the only body I have just now so I've never used the MP-E 65 on anything else.

Light seems to be a key factor once you get towards the 5X end so from what I've experienced I would say something that can produce really good quality at high ISO would be a big help.

wow... what a coincidence.. i've just been looking at this lens' reviews and on ebay for used ones. the guy who reviewed it was using a 1D MkII - but is obviously very familiar with macro stuff and knows what he's doing - it looks an amazing bit of kit - but something for the future for me i think.

LordV over at Dgrin.com has his attached to a 5D MKII but I'm sure he's had it on a 400D and a 40D.

Don't quote me though.

To get the most out of this lens you will need the MT24-ex flash as for bodies I've used the lens with a 50D but i was unhappy with the noise quality at low ISO's so i have swapped to a 5D MKII which gives a much cleaner image but its still early days yet for me and this combo. The FF sensor will fit a much larger subject in the frame at 1:1. There a quite a few MP-e users on here who use crop sensor bodies with great effect.
