1. Purpose of the Role
The Vice President supports the President in the effective running of the Club and ensures continuity of leadership. The role provides operational support, deputises where required, and contributes to the development of the Club’s programme, membership, and activities.
2. Key Responsibilities
2.1 Support to the President
- Assist the President in planning and delivering the Club’s annual programme of meetings, competitions, and events
- Provide general support in the day-to-day running of the Club
- Act as a sounding board on matters relating to Club direction and member engagement
2.2 Deputising
- Chair Club meetings in the absence of the President
- Represent the Club at external events where the President is unavailable
- Step into the President’s role temporarily if required
2.3 Programme and Activities
- Contribute to the development of the Club programme, including speakers, workshops, and competitions
- Support the organisation and delivery of Club events, including logistics and coordination
- Encourage participation across all levels of membership
2.4 Membership Engagement
- Welcome and support new members
- Act as a point of contact for member feedback and concerns
- Help foster a positive, inclusive, and constructive club environment
2.5 Governance and Committee Work
- Attend and actively participate in committee meetings
- Contribute to decision-making and strategic planning
- Support adherence to the Club’s constitution and policies
2.6 Continuity and Succession
- Maintain sufficient understanding of the President’s responsibilities to ensure continuity
- Be prepared to assume the role of President if required (formally or informally)
3. Authority
The Vice President has no independent executive authority beyond that delegated by the Committee but may act on behalf of the President when deputising.
4. Time Commitment
- Attendance at regular Club meetings and committee meetings
- Additional time as required for event support and planning
5. Term of Appointment
- As defined by the Club constitution (typically one year, renewable)
6. Reporting
- Reports to the President and the Committee
- Provides updates on relevant activities at committee meetings
