while looking for a new camera found a uk site and the camera is( Europian union stock )could somebody explain this please.

Well it sounds to me like it's meant for the euro market, that may mean it'll be classed as a "grey import" as far as any guarantee is concerned. You might want to check before spending any money, is it a legit site?

It would help if you would mention the website. Someone may know of it.

Its HDEW camers uk sites address phone number.
Just found a post about the company over all very good to deal with .

Why not ask the supplier that's using the phrase? - if they're reputable they'll have a phone number on the website. The best anyone else can do is guess.

Make sure that you clarify:
  • Warranty arrangements if something goes wrong
  • Which plug is fitted to the charger
  • What langauge(s) the manuals are in
  • Whether VAT is included in the price and listed on the invoice/receipt

explain how the Euro market is gray lol

Hdew are a fantastic place to deal with, I've spent around £5000 with them since november 2011. They give a warranty that is covered by Canon for the first year and then covered by a Canon approved service centre for the remainder. The manuals are the full english genuine Canon booklets and they provide a UK VAT invoice. If you do a search for Hdew on here you'll find they have a very good rep.

I have nothing to do with the running of Hdew at all, I'm just a very satisfied customer.

I found the post very good so far ,there were a few that had photo copys of manuals so emailed them and the reply was : if you do have a copy we will order a manual for you .

Grey imports mean not imported into UK by the UK importer.

There is nothing illegal about grey imports provided all duties and VAT have been paid.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey_market

if its in the EU then so long as tax is paid in the country of purchase thats it. you don't pay import tax among EU countries and warrenty is EU wide e.g buying a camera in germany the warrenty is valid in the UK.

if the camera is an EU model but purchased outwith the EU then you are open to VAT and import duty.
